$67,000 / $.48CPM = would be 140,000 miles a year. Considerably more then then 10,000 miles a month. But then again, you are the guy who cleared $70K working 11 months at Swift.

Although I am not sure, I think Central Oregon truck pays much lower then that. Last they advertised was $.35CPM but admittedly that was more then a few months ago. Now they just spam job source and craigslist without giving pay rate. It is like they are ashamed what they pay or something.

Digging around on their website showed 45-50 cpm and they claim 9000-14000 miles a month depending on the division.

I'd wager 9000-11000 miles a month is more typical putting it more in the 50-60k a year range which isn't bad if they pay for benefits.

They can pay $10 a mile, but if all you do is sit in the truck stop, it really is not going to do you any good. Interview drivers, and hope you find one that will not lie to you. Good luck. ;-)

That's what it boils down to. Find a place you like and can see yourself retiring from and stick with it.

Anything less than .64/mile all miles on the odometer is a pay cut for me. That's what I average now.

And that average is going up lately. Hoping to end the year closer to .80/mile all miles.

Last year I pulled .78/miles all miles average.

Percentage pay and a decent work ethic for the win!

But....if the economy tanks, that cpm might be $0.40 or lower. The one bad thing about percentage is it isn't a constant.

The 5th of every month I get another check for performance. Those checks are between .10-.16 per mile you ran all month. You get higher for better fuel mileage, better productivity, no accidents, following fuel routing, no tickets, accidents or violations. I don’t know how many times I’m going to have to explain this.

You get whatever rate per mile based on experience. You get tarp pay(on #### near every load). You get other accessorial pays. And then you get a bonus. So let’s say you make .38 and run 12500 miles, which puts you in the top tier for performance pay... you get 7mpg... no tickets and no violations.

    4,750 in straight mileage pay.
    1,750 In bonus pay
    120.50 in vacation pay
600 in tarp pay. I actually had 800 this month.
600 or so in company paid insurance

Inverter, APU, New t680. You have trailers with hooks, so you use cord to tarp instead of bungees. Takes about 20-30 minutes for a newbie. Your trailer and tractor both have scales for you to make sure you won’t be overloaded.

You have the cat scale app, so you don’t get out of the truck or need to find parking to scale a load. You get free WiFi at Pilot and Flying J. 2 all option truck and trailer washes per month at the Streakin Beacon.

And that’s not even half of what they offer. I’m glad you like your job. Personally, I’m working on obtaining my own authority and building a fleet. But let it be known... I took a pay cut and left a job that got me home daily to come and work for this company. There’s a reason for that. Several of them. You will quite simply never find a company which treats drivers better than this one. Period. My ####### left orientation without checking my permits first. I grabbed the wrong binder. Arizona was happy to give me 750 dollars in reminders today... I called safety to ask where to send the tickets so they had a copy and he actually apologized to me for setting me up to fail, when it was entirely my fault. The company is paying every ticket. They’re taking action to make sure it doesn’t happen to another driver. That’s the first red light I have had on my prepass since I’ve started. Probably because their equipment is nice, their drivers are compliant and they have a good reputation.

Most companies would tell the driver to get ####ed, and you know it. Especially since I did a month and a half of pretrip and post trip inspections without checking my permit book. As I said, my fault... they are paying for all of the tickets. They paid to fax an entire permit book to Loves. Hell, whenever I want some random ### securement stuff, I call and ask if I can get it and they put money on my card to get it. “You can never have too many straps or edge protectors.”

Anyway I think the major point that needs to be made is that st this company you aren’t a truck sitting in case they need you. They are proactive in not wasting your time and if they ever do, you’re paid for it. Period. You are planned for 9:59 off duty and at 10 hours, you’re expected to be working. You’re expected to run your hours. And you don’t have time to do otherwise because you’re already preplanned.

If it's Crete or Shaffer, then the real story is you get 48 CPM.

EDIT: Just realized I missed the fact that you were referring to a company called Long Haul Trucking, not simply a type of company.

MOST companies advertise the highest possible pay under very strict circumstances that few drivers will ever meet.

The first thing I think of when I see a higher than average CPM is below average miles. They can pay $5 per mile and put you in the poor house with 50 miles per week. Never work somewhere until you talk to current drivers at the company. How many rubes are going to hire on with thevWal Mart of the past to learn things have changed drastically?

The "catch" is that it's only $0.48 cpm.
