So its come to my attention that Werner has been hiring several known violent felons who have lifetime bans from operating commercial vehicles due to their crimes.
Most shocking, they hired a man named Ricky Welch, who served 10 years of a 20 year sentence for shooting his girlfriend, kidnapping their child, and then carjacking some random innocent person.
RICKY V WELCH Inmate 078675: Florida DOC Prisoner Arrest Record
Ricky had several severe emotional breakdowns while training with Werner, but his trainer was forced to continue working with him anyways. He had an explosive breakdown in front of two other employees outside the Bass Pro DC in Macon GA, demanding to be let off the trainer truck.
Despite this, he was then assigned his own truck and allowed to team with an unsuspecting individual.
He is currently in Florida prison for attempting to murder another person, his third attempted murder. The second attempt was removed from his record, but the other two are public record and would have showed up on any background check.
This proves without a doubt how incredibly unstable and reckless the Werner student safety department really is towards its trainers. They have had countless complaints from trainers forced to work with known unsafe or unstable students.
Completely unacceptable.
Werner caught hiring felons banned from driving, including a convicted kidnapper as student drivers

Didn't a Werner student kill his trainer in Texas a couple years ago?

I’m betting their pockets are deep enough to prevent the DOT from revoking their operating authority.

If the felon does a good enough job, he moves into the front office.

Best leave Werner drivers alone..
austinmike and rpad139 Thank this. -
The trainer who complained about the kidnapper had previously complained about the behavior of the student safety department, and was subsequently assigned almost exclusively students who had already been kicked off trucks for unstable or unsafe behavior.
The kidnapper was held at the Atlanta hotel for several weeks specifically to assign him to the trainer. They told him that the student was held because there were too many students and not enough trainers, then told the trainer he could not switch students because there werent any more students.
This alone shows that assigning unstable students to certain trainers was intentional.rabbiporkchop, NavigatorWife, Dave_in_AZ and 3 others Thank this. -
