So I'm just curious how wrong I was here. Few months back I'm driving on I 80 EB in Nebraska. FedEx contractor pulling doubles is coming out of a rest area. There's a truck almost done passing me and a camper coming up hot in the hammer lane. Guess ol super trucker FedEx in the white Volvo has to slow down to merge? HELL NO! This apex of profesionality decides to pull out right in front of me. I swerve just in time narrowly missing the camper, whizzing by FedEx by about an inch. I get on the cb and ask if he puts duct tape on his eyes and hopes for the best when merging.
Going down the road he slowly catches up and passes me. I look over ready to give him the finger, but he's looking strait ahead. I get on the cb again and use some colorful language to tell him just what I think of his driving ability. With him just over half passed me he turns his blinker on and swings his trailer at me. I react by moving over a tad and then he freaking TURNS his truck into my lane. This wasn't a slow rub out...no. this was a "I don't care if we get in a huge wreck and I kill you, I'll be in that lane in 2 seconds." I anticipated he might do that so I swerve with him and end up on the shoulder. Hit my breaks and let the moron go with a renewed stroking of his Volvo driving ego. Scary thing is, I drive a tank. If I'd have been loaded I might have rolled with a sudden correction like this...
So...am I the jerk for not slowing down and letting him merge? Anyone ever been rubbed out this aggressively? I was pretty shook up afterwards. Also my dash cam was having issues otherwise I would have most certainly gone after his job and CDL

Argument could be made that this would've been an avoidable accident because you anticipated him doing this. By my standards i think i would've slowed to let the camper pass then hopped over when he did.

think I read it on here... but I let folks in all the time... and you don't know the person and they won't affect ur life in 20 minutes after the issue happened, so just let folks in and be safe....... and let it go

If he was far enough ahead to merge in front of you and you were empty on top of it the answer should be obvious if it was unsafe to switch lanes... I agree that he merged wrong but sometime being the defensive driver saves aggravation .. I really hoped you reported him for trying to ditch you . That’s not needed out here

You will have the last laugh, trust me. Guys who drive like that, it always catches up to them.

Remember a few months ago a FedEx driver blocking the fuel islands smarted off to the driver that was blocked in, so the driver that was blocked in stabbed him 4 times. Didn't kill him, but probably be more careful in the future about being a smart arse.

I have mixed feelings about this. On one hand, as a general rule the guy merging has the responsibility of adjusting his speed to make the proper merge, but on the other hand it just might have been better for everyone for you to maybe slow down to let him get in front... or at least get on the cb and say, “hey fedex i see you coming down the ramp but i got nowhere to go...”. Really it’s tough for me to give a good answer without having been there.
In any case, he was an arse for cutting you off later.tinytim, magoo68, Blackshack46 and 1 other person Thank this.
