The sleep apnea scam

Every Driver in America should make a stand to stop the non-sense....if every driver in america just laid it down for two days no commodities of any kind to be transported to prove a point so be it... just maybe they would consider to stop all these laws to make a dollar out of every hard working driver in america !!! Let's stand together for a good cause truck drivers we are no different then Back the Blue or Black lives Matter or March for our Lives !!! I get it, we all do. Again, we have to take a stand or it will just get worse

Do you know how many times someone has said that every driver needs to just sit still for a couple days?
That is the end all be all of fixes for every problem it seems.

What do you suggest-do nothing ? Sorry doing nothing is not going to work either...My idea is better then no idea..maybe not on a large scale but you have to start somewhere band together is the solution !!! in big numbers people will listen.

 

You're beating a dead horse regarding the sleep apnea scam. In addition to most companies not bothering with it, the FMCSA has also dropped all regulatory action.

As far as banding together on this or any issue, truckers have consistently failed to agree on anything. We would much rather complain, ##### and moan than organize.

If you are suckered into this scam, it is just another mask the problems and charge for having a health problem. Go find a real doctor, take care of the problem or it is going to get worse. Seems like the #1 problem is being a bit overweight which will lead to many other problems. The medical society is only hiding health problems so you have no pain and can still kind of function..problem is still messing with you.

 

BMI of 28 is a little overweight. BMI of 38 is well beyond a little overweight, it’s close to 100lbs overweight.

Doing whatever job you want isn’t your right, and there are plenty of jobs that can legally restrict you on the basis of eyesight, hearing, and health conditions like extreme, morbid obesity. I don’t have an issue with it, particularly if extreme, morbid obesity prevents a person operating an 80,000lbs vehicle on public highways from sleeping properly.

 

I agree with both of you but the scam I referred to was sending people for testing based on collar size and requiring that only approved testing centers be used.

If one has or suspects they have sleep apnea they should go on their own and get tested due to the range of related health problems.

The idea that any idea is better than no idea is based on a false assumption.
The assumption is that just any idea has any merit.

We have had this same idea floating around for decades; that if only the truckers would band together we could be THE POWER.
Any true thought on that matter would put an end to the notion very quickly.

But it might make for a decent movie.

Same thing happened to me in Dallas Tx. Concentra told me that they would recommend a sleep study and would not issue a 2 year phys.
(1) The tech slapped the tape measure around my shirt top and did not tighten the tape. She simply stated that my neck was too wide and refused to re-tape.
(2) The so called Dr. one hour later stated that my blood pressure was too high after lifting my arm up instead of "at rest" and refused to tell me what my B.P. actual was. HIPPA VIOLATION. She then told me that I would be scheduled for a Sleep Study Test. I advised the Dr. that I would not take a Sleep study and would not sign any paper work. I then left the facility and called the Complaint line and completed a telephone and website complaint for HIPPA violations.
