I just finished School myself My teachers all said TMC WAS A GOOD BET i WOULD ALSO APPRECIATE ADVICE iT SEEMS NO ONE WILL TAKE YOU WITH OUT 6 MOS EXPIRIENCE ANY SUGGESTIONS FROM OTHER WOULD BE APPRECIATED im IN illinois

Hey there Dan. I too have a long time class B job I'm leaving in Northern IL for a potential new career OTR. I'm scheduled for orientation at TMC, our school does have a TMC recruiter but it seems most students go to Werner and Roehl. I'm trying to get started in flatbed because I think coming from my current job that is probably what I would feel most at home with.

 

Does Roehl run flatbeds???

 

Yep. Flatbed and curtainside after some seniority. No I don't work for them but wish I did at this point.

 

Been reading via these forums a few days now; and all I can think to say to bigpapa7272's post, as this is my first post to these forums, is: timing is everything!

I drove truck right out of the military for about 5 years, having first gone through a Vo-Tech approved truck driving school out of my area...went to school got two degrees and have been working in a whole other profession for the past 12 years; and am just now looking to get back into truck driving again - and this economy being destroyed, some would suggest: by the same government out of DC, isn't going to help you and/or folks like me if driving truck is what we'd like to try and do...

Those who are now secure in a good trucking job best hold those jobs and not knock those who are trying to get into the profession for all kinds of reasons...I myself am getting into trucking because after dealing with people on so many different levels the past 12 years I'd prefer avoiding people as much as possible; except dealing with 'em on my terms...

Good graces on your endeavors; I know how you must feel about spending funds on something the government out of DC is wrecking with every bill passed and executive order President Also Known as the First, as Alan Stang over at newswithviews.com talks about...Alex Jones is dead on as well regarding social issues going on in America - 90% of which is by design....

 

i think the US needs to start HELPING the US out. it seems all they want to do is go to war. then turn around and send $$$$$$$ over there to help do this and help do that. at the same time. we are doin with out just so they can do this. job went to hell. the world we know is slowing comin to a end lmao. bush pretty much ###### us. now this new guy we have in office. i don't know if he can fix what bush done to us. but i think they need to bring our boys home and stop worrying about other people business. if they want to kill there people. as bad as this is gonna sound. so be it let them. yeah i may sound mean but im not im just tired of OUR people doin with out. just so the people we put in office can have fun.

 

Remember that Bush was not a dictator and needed congress to do a lot of these things.Why blame him and him alone for things that are not solely his fault? I do agree that we need to look after our own country first and foremost before we try to help anyone else. I'm looking to get back to driving myself. Left K&B when I got tired of $350 and $400 paychecks and being out 2 weeks at a time.They did well at getting me home but when I got home I didn't have enough to pay my bills.Tried to find something local that pays better than minimum wage and after 3 months I've decided to go back to driving.

instead of cdls i started to go to heavy equipment school, now i wish i had. maybe get a job road building with obamas new plan. in texas seems like a lot of illegals doing the work
