Just to start putting some miles on this truck as we get our operation off the ground, I have no problem working off load boards and negotiating rates while I establish contacts in the shipping world. It may turn out that leasing myself out is the best option but for right now it's the last option while my thick skull is still clogged with dreams of total freedom to succeed or fail on my own. Any opinions on the best and most mobile-friendly paid service? To make things extra challenging I'm running flatbed out of South Florida so yes, I have already factored in the ridiculous number of deadhead miles I'll be driving.
Thanks as always in advance for your thoughts. Stay safe.
DAT vs. 123 vs. the rest of the load boards

I don't have any suggestions but I'll be watching this thread because I'm in the same boat in Northern California. Still getting all of my ducks in a row but will be looking for the same answers very soon.
Good luck out there and I hope your new venture is a success.Crossbones Thanks this. -
Try them all ... dat is the most expensive but has the most info. Talk to a dat representative and tell them what exactly you are trying to build and see if they can design something for you. Dont be shocked if it is more than the $49 a month like all the others.

well,i pull a van,so this may be at best partially applicable. i use internet truckstop the most. once you are out there a while you'll use it less and less. in the winter i use dat and IT. in the summer i cancel dat and don't look at the other too much.
the first year is intimidating,. it gets easier. i would not lease on anywhere.86scotty, HopeOverMope and Crossbones Thank this. -
I pay for DAT and don’t have my own authority yet. I’d definitely recommend it. Also for groups on Facebook...

I started out with Truckstop load board. It's cheap if you don't need days to pay info.
After awhile you'll probably stop using the load board and just work off broker boards or calls.
The most tedious part is doing all the broker packs- at first.
BTW, there's plenty of flatbed work in Florida. A lot of it keeps you in florida. Some of it coming out is not so bad.Crossbones Thanks this. -
DAT $150 package is all you need. I also have ITS $35 package, its useful for me maybe only few times per year, but I still keep it
