Did not know you could get to your final semester and not know what you were going for. Oh well that does not matter anyway, but I would do my best to finish up. If you have the chance to get a degree I would say go for it. It will not stop you from driving if that is what you want to do, and it will always help with nearly any job.

I left WVU with a 2.0 in my first semester and really wish I had stayed. I think the party after beating Penn State may have done me in. Oh well that was nearly 25 years ago and I'm not sure if we have beat them again since. You live and you learn.

Anyway best of luck and hope you find somebody that will give you a chance.

The reason why England is forcing company drivers to team is the lack of company trucks right now. Most of the trucks are at the end of the lease and they have to turn them back in. Not enough new trucks to go around yet, therefore, if you want to keep a paycheck coming, you have to team up with another driver. From what I understand, this is a temporary thing until there are enough company trucks in the fleet again.

When I say final semester, I meant the last one that I was there for (three total). Going longer without knowing what I was doing was starting to really become a waste of time and money. >_<

I can't say this enough having it done it myself for 6 months - don't do team driving unless you can drive around the clock and switch from night to day on a moment's notice and don't mind the truck never stopping except for gas and occasional layovers. Its extremely dangerous if you don't get enough sleep and you become a prisoner in your own truck because you never stop running.

Well I did it for 7 weeks with a trainer. We ran a team setup. For the first few weeks I was almost always driving during the day. The last 4 weeks or so, I was driving every night. It was getting to be a pain in the ### because I would wake up at like 4 in the afternoon (having gotten plenty of sleep), but didn't start driving until hours later (maybe 8-9 at night sometimes). By sunrise, the boredom of the dark open empty interstate through the night had me struggling to stay awake. I stopped a few times to sleep for a couple hours (and wait for the sun to come up) before continuing when I was just too tired to keep driving.

Once the sun came up and people started to get on the road, it always helped to wake me up a bit and keep me going.

If England will pay you and the bills are piling up I say go for it. Probably the best thing to do is start posting on here and when you go for orientation try to find a good team partner. They will let you choose your partner, that helps if you can find a good one. If you find someone with a lot of experience they will also pay you based on the higher experience.

    Good luck and be safe.

Yeah, seeing the sun rise while driving through scenic country like the mountains of Utah was one of the few privileges of trucking that I really enjoyed. It really makes you feel alive to see all that beauty, then reality sets in after around 8 hours of staring at road. I think my favorite sight of all was a Petro sign when you're starving hungry, tired, and ready to hit the buffet, assuming you have the time.

Most people get their most tired about and hour or so b4 the sun comes up even if youve only been driving for a couple hrs. Then you get that ray of hope and perk up when the sun comes up.

This is yet another reason why I need to be a solo driver. I love loud music. It'll keep me awake through anything. When I was with my Werner trainer (or if I'm with a team driver), I can only listen to the music so loud before they wake up. If I'm going to be driving all night long, that loud music is the key to keeping me awake and active.

Edit: Audio books work great as well as long as it's very good. That's mostly what myself and my trainer listened to while we were together. It was nice actually. It gave us something to talk about most of the time.
