CB radio or police scanner?

    which one do you guys recommend? Doesn't both work similarly or not? Been looking into the Bearcat police scanner.

    You'll need to spend at least $240. to get a good scanner that will pick up.

    Look at the Bearcat/ Beartracker 885 hybrid cb radio/ digital scanner.

    Hey hate to break the news to you but since 911 a lot of police systems moved to what is called a trucked service system.

    This means it is not hard to listen to the cops but it is a lot more difficult.

    By the way, this move was to make sure there is interoperability between jurisdictions and agencies.

    299C.37 POLICE COMMUNICATION EQUIPMENT; USE, SALE.
    §
    Subdivision 1.Use regulated.

    (a) No person other than peace officers within the state, the members of the State Patrol, and persons who hold an amateur radio license issued by the Federal Communications Commission, shall equip any motor vehicle with any radio equipment or combination of equipment, capable of receiving any radio signal, message, or information from any police emergency frequency

    scanners may not be legal in all states.

    So based on that definition you are saying the new Bearcat 885 cb/scanner is illegal to use without a license?

    Looks like MOBILE use is prohibited without a ham ticket (or becoming a cop). Personally I wouldnt sweat it tho
