If they wanted you they would have red lighted you, told you to fix your weight, then given you a weight ticket, right then, your good no worries. but I would not try your luck again.

If you stop on the scale on hwy 40 in Quebec the weigh master will give you a hairy eyeball for disturbing him while he's reading his newspaper. Don't stop,, just roll through. Everybody happy happy...

In the front of your map book there are 2 weight charts. One for interstate and one for state routes. Also you can use this website Kingpin to Rear Axle Maximum Distance for your trailer wheelbase limits. Know the laws and use them to your advantage.

You probably got lucky and the scale man wasn't watching at that particular moment. Don't sweat it but don't push your luck either.

If you get past the last scale in UT just before Wendover NV you'll probably be fine if you're delivering in NV. Seems like the scales in NV on 80 are rarely open, especially at night. California is a different story. Don't mess with the CHP.

I was hauling a load from Denver to Calif a couple years ago that I scaled before I left and was fine. Went across the scales on 80 coming into UT from WY and it showed me overweight by 1,000 pounds on the tandems, but they didn't stop me. Never heard another word about it.

I once put a mack with a 40 foot tanker onto the New Market Scales one 4 am morning. The bay window had the big bear hat with 20+ trainee shirts and ties. IN the glare of lights lighting up every thing wrong with my rig plus weight (77 something gross was legal for that 40 foot tanker and short mack on a certain 5 axle wheelbase, I had 80+ on)

They kept the red light on long enough for big hat to point and point and point end to end and I had imagined 20 trainees going through my daycab and writing me up for everything. By the time I begun to consider the financial ruin they gave me the green light for the freeway.

I don't dare question such events anymore, Im gone. Thank you sirs.

I drove a car carrier. And it was always over on the trailer. Not the gross. Only scales that messed with me,Virginia Winchester.and Oklahoma .The rest gave me the green light.
