@Powder Joints I see from your profile your location is Rosamond. I spent a lot of time there back in the 70s. I was stationed at Edwards. Started some good drunks there! Fantastic memories!

Wrong! You were on duty when you fueled the truck.

Well actually not, they have a fueler, I just made sure it happened. I may have moved the truck, but I did not actually fuel it. Every driver on here has moved a truck while off duty. If the previous driver had done his job I would not have need to. I was not paid for this time because I had not been dispatched. Im a outside temp driver I dont actually work for a customer till Im dispatched, before that my job assignment could be and has been changed.

If you want to get technical about it a driver is on duty while in meetings. Sitting in Safety during an audit. Writing up your truck to get worked on. There is the letter of the law and then there is common sense. A driver that uses common sense works the least amount of time and gets things done and still stays safe.

First off you are never required to answer such questions, Second every OTR driver does this anyway, if I trained them, I teach to inspect as you approach your vehicle every time, to always look for possible problems.

In over 29 years of driving I have never had a DOT leo ever ask the garbage brought up in this forum, just went threw a full inspection in west bound Banning scale, passed, received stickers for both tractor and trailer, elogs inspected no problem at all. And Banning is probably the toughest scale in Ca for inspections.

There are plenty of legal actions that impede safety on a normal day.

No reason to sit and pick on the petty stuff.

Yes. I have had many PMs and emails and this was the primary topic. I'm not trying to sound mean. But the real drivers are mostly driving. I take notice of times people post. Over time I start asking when do they drive? I admit I post a lot during the day. I am retired and disabled and spend a lot of time online. I promised a mod I would not call anymore members out by name. However it is clear by their posting patterns they are not driving.

    Powder Joints Thanks this.
