You have a good point on rather or not it being profitable with a driver. Where I have a question is why would I need to do that since I am not looking for a driver? At this point I have made more then I did as a company driver for this company so I would consider that to be profitable. Now with that said I don't consider this months profit enough for me to stay a lease driver if it stays like this. But I can't make any decision based on just a month on the job. I always look at the big picture so once I get a few months in then I can see if it is worth it. Thank you for the good advice though it made me really think about things.

Yes that is what I profited for this month. You are right there are jobs where I can make this as a company driver. Here is where the problem lies though for my situation. There are not very many companies (only 3 to my knowledge) that I can make that wage, stay on the west coast, and be home every weekend.

Lol you got it I operate on I5 for 90% of my loads. I actually get decent mileage at 7.15 MPG just have a high fuel cost, stupid cali lol. I will look into that card for sure once I get some more experience. Right now I am averaging .30 - .40 cpg off with my companies card.

I work 5 - 6 days a week and do a 34 on the weekends. Keep in mind that I had a lot of startup exspenses and got a new seat put in the truck so if I didn't do those it would have been more around $7500 at least. That is the main reason I am looking forward to seeing what this month brings now that I have gotten through the initial startup hump.

Well had a breakdown Friday. Happened 10 miles from home though so I got to stay at home rather then a hotel somewhere. My oil pan gasket failed and yeah was not a good scene. I was lucky enough to have pulled over before it lost enough oil to damage the engine. The shop had just replaced my oil pan in Feb. so it ended up being warrantied so nothing out of my pocket so far. Will have to see if the tow gets paid by the warrantee also. I didn't lose any time because the truck was fixed before my 34 was done so got lucky there also.

Things are still going decent. I will be releasing my numbers for this month as soon as I can get through our yard to get my last paystub. I need to adjust my fuel to the proper numbers to reflect the discount I get from my company. I did a little better this month then last month and am still fine tuning things. I had to pay IFTA this month and that was a pretty big hit. I just finished up the pay period for 5/15's paycheck and earned almost $9500 to the truck gross so next month should be the best yet. We shall see. I like your little saying Phantaztix lol that's pretty funny.

So here are April's numbers and I have to say the gross was a little better but the net remained in the same ball park. I am still in the $1.90's pm for earnings which is not to bad. With that said if you take the miles I did and times them by .40 ( the wage I was earning before going lease) I made $2,166 more gross then I would have as a company driver. The saying I kept hearing is true, you won't get rich doing this but you will do better then a company position. So far I am happy with it. My plan is to see how things go numbers wise after the end of the year and go from there. If I can't meet the goals I set then I may walk away from this. Only time will tell.

Hmm I just noticed something I will have to look into later. My fuel costs were considerably higher in April then March. I looked up the gallons amounts for each month and there is around an 800 gallon difference between march and april so I mussed have missed imputing some fuel for mach. I will have to look at that.

I'll say one thing. I think you are doing great. You only drove 8300 miles. While after expenses you you may think you aren't doing great but imagine if you were a mega lease driver. You'd have drove more miles for less money. But other than taxes and maintenance I'd say do your best to build a cushion for possible bad times. In my experience everything good is followed by the bad. Keep up the good work.

So I am 3 months into my lease Adventure. Here is my quarterly profit and loss statement. One thing I have learned is to look at the big picture and not just day by day or week by week. I have ran loads that have actually cost me money and I have ran loads that have made me a really good profit.

Your ifta is very high. Is that because you buy bulk at your terminal? If so, how much do you save by buying there?
