Tripac is the king but they are not cheap. My current truck has Detroit wngeng with Optimized Idle, that's we're the truck will start and heat or cool the cab and recharge batteries and keep engine oil warm. It also now does automatic parked regeneration on DPF if needed. In case your thinking getting a new truck someday and moving APU over. I'm not sure we need APUs now that the trucks can regen themselves when parked. For $13,000 plus repairs and oil changes you can idle the truck engine. My last 34 hour restart using Optimized Idle the trucked used 10 gallons of diesel

What about the Parksmart system Freightliner offers on trucks? Isn't that even better than optimized idle.

Kenworth offered same thing if you order one with it but didn't have time to wait on one to be built for us this time. Next truck will come with it for sure

The only probably with the park smart is in high summer heat the system is not big enough to cool the cab from what I hear. Plus the batteries lose their power over a year. They can't keep the system going 10 hours from what I hear. I never had park smart but had another battery Apu it had those problem. My current company had Park Smart system and had trouble with it. So they just switch to Optimize Idle System now. We have bunk heater we can use in the winter also
