Maybe, maybe not.
However we need drivers and miserable (edited to not violate rule number 1) putting out misinformation is all I have ever contested. I will point out folks just just whine in general without specifics because they are worthless to any one looking for a job here.
If they have a specific gripe (no more set runs, working weekends, extra board) that is fine. They are entitled to an opinion on it. However to just randomly say the company is crap, and we are all being fired with no proof is disengenous at best but more likely sour grapes as they jumped ship and now regret it.
It may or may not be a good job for someone looking. But at a minimum we owe them the truth and proven fact, not whining and #####ing from butt hurt people that no longer even work here.
It’s time to take the masks off

Right now drivers are encouraging potential prospects to apply because the warning was put out on a peoplenet over a month ago that if there’s not many more new recruits there’ll be no more private fleet. These top rate drivers are just trying to save their own paychecks. Don’t listen to them.
TransplantBadger Thanks this. -
We've just announced a 2 grand recruitment bonus for drivers.
We can't get qualified drivers and our facility averages 90+K and home after each shift. -
B) Uh duh I hope we do get drivers. Yes I will tell them factually what working here entails. The good, the bad, even tell them we have our share of miserable people just like the rest of the world. Both in PF and the stores. The secret is to point them out, and then ignore them.
I do not get a recruiting bonus. And if you feel anything I have posted is inaccurate feel free to make your case. You will lose but hey take your shot.
Yeah Hammond stepped on his winky threatening my job. Yes a message was sent back up the chain from numerous drivers. He walked back some of his comments. Something in my opinion your going to see some of as they come to the realization truck drivers are not near as prevalent or simple to hire as Greg Smith thought.
Maybe they will, maybe they will not. Until then the checks cash, and I do not have to argue with folks just to get my job done timely and safely.
So for the last time do you have a specific gripe? FLW? Antiquated system. Sorry there was no reason to sit ten drivers all afternoon that could have run because someone else was working tomorrow.
Set runs? Hell the new guys were never going to see them anyways, and the days of cherry picking what you want to do and blowing holes all through the ROCs operation needed to end. Yeah I get the old guys think it sucks. Welcome to working for a living.
Tractor assignments, program bids, and exception runs are still based on seniority.
Working weekends? News flash we support the stores. They sell more on Weekends. You have to work when it is there. Never understood the tail wagging the dog mentality of senior drivers. They act like Sam Walton built stores just so he could have a private fleet of trucks to pamper. No he built a retail juggernaut that still stands against everyone around the world. He knew this company makes money in one way. When a customer hands the cashier money in exchange for a product. That is it.
Yeah I am still pissed about belt buckles. Hell they could have killed that show pony road team and saved that money. However they left Ann over that and in my opinion she does not like drivers unless she can use them as PR spin.
PF going away? Maybe. However we have recently proven our worth covering for the HVDC boondoggle. We are adding PF positions at some HVDCs because we can not get reliable service from anyone. Lewiston Me, Gas City In are two of the.. We currently have 33 DCs hiring. Sure is an awful lot for something that is closing in July. Hell it will take that long to get a new hire through the process.
They are holding a hiring event in Indie for Gas City next month(?)
Seriously lots of folks are working through the changes. We have a couple new guys that left, and a couple more that could not be happier. It is not a fit for everyone.
However if you want decent pay, treated with respect so long as it is given, and do not mind working your way up we have jobs. You never touch freight, but you will get good at d/h. Sometimes store associates can be a pain. Sometimes they call ahead to the next market when I am running tight and have them waiting for me so I can make another store to break( last night). Like anything there is good and bad.
Anyone considering ask away. But current drivers should stick to specific facts instead of "this job just sucks". Bear in mind miserable people are everywhere, don't let them make your decisions for you.TransplantBadger, MilkyJay and Coover Thank this. -

2 days at less than 500 miles, with - eh...moderate? - activity...
Good Lord those goat trails...speed up, slow down, stop turn, speed up, slow down...
7055 looks like a Greyhound Bus station. Every freak and weird looking misfit pulling for every outside carrier you can think of is coming and going. Not that I'm looking down on mega carrier drivers, but I am. Sorry, not sorry...
Now here is where PF and all the technology they are trying to force to work could improve:
Sunday is my EWW.
Friday night I empty out in Holland, MI (nice totally flooded pit, guys. Bravo), then deadhead back to 7055. 205 miles. I get there about 0900 local time. ON the way back from Holland, I updated my ETD no less than FIVE times, and STILL had to talk to dispatch to get a move out of 7055. I asked, and I did everything right in the OBC on my end, and my ETD was good.
After a few minutes I get my move.
Deadhead to Hammond, and drag a load back to Menomonie. 170 extra empty miles.
370 empty miles, when a DH from Holland, MI would have saved 150 empty miles.
I get it, they thought they would need the help at Gas City again Saturday, so I was moved back there instead of Hammond.
But isn't all this software supposed to be predictive? Isn't all this crap supposed to KNOW what's needed next? Don't we drivers "not see the big picture"?
Honestly, if management wants things to improve as far as efficiency and utilization, and so on, they need to zero in on stuff like that. That was pure waste. -
Been a lot of empty moves that make little to know sense. I am not sure it is the new system or office folks fighting the system, or (and brace yourself for a radical concept) the interface between Pnet and Quintec blows chunks.
Last week had an EDT into 66. Computer had it, Quintec had it, all good until you looked at available drivers list (or whatever they call the screen that shows drivers coming through) I was no where to be found. Coordinator had to call the ROC to get me something and the rest of the day it was phone calls until I reset.
Kind of like once it lost track of me I was persona non grata.....well I am a troublemaker but......
The next week I was golden as far as moves but I was in Ks and under CENROC that seemed to be running smoother(Q the CENROC driver yelling that they are just as screwed up) -
we dont make cents. we make dollars. hammer down
06driver Thanks this.
