I would stop and get some new fuel filters just incase some water got past the fuel/water separator.
Possible water in fuel.

Dude that happens sometimes. Once you drain the water separator, and it keeps coming back, it's toast. Just do yourself a favor and get it changed before it leaves you someplace you don't wanna be.
Almost truck stop can handle it. Probably $100 bill, no biggie. You gotta drain that separator every few days you know. They say daily, I do mine every 2 or 3 days.
You can tell right away. If you see fuel coming out right away, your good, don't empty the whole thing.
Just do yourself a favor and get a new one. It may have been going bad and you didn't catch it. -
I carry a spare fuel filter, and water separator filter with me. My water separator is a canister type and not everyone has it. I only have one GIANT fuel filter and it's very common.
But once she starts to lose power, ballgames over.NCTru919 Thanks this. -
Ok, seems water in the fuel isn't the issue. The filter was dirty and ready for a change but it doesn't appear to be a water issue. I guess it just threw those codes out for whatever reason.
I'm getting low fuel rail pressure and some other related issues. I'm shut down until Monday so I can get it to a dealer.Lepton1 Thanks this. -
Sometimes it helps to shut down the truck and disconnect the battery for a few minutes. It will reset the computer. Sometimes that helps with minor glitches. If the problem persists then you know it's something that needs to be looked at.

There's no seperate fuel for truck and reefer. There's no dye. Both come from the same tank. The ONLY tank/S. Since the reefer isn't acting up. Logic dictates the truck.
Reefers aren't considered off highway use. If someone were to pull you over and dip your tanks. The reefer has to be just as legal as the truck.
Most of us don't carry water seperators and have never had to worry about it. Those usually get changed with the service. Unless it's that plastic bubble on the frame like FL's have. I don't remember the frequency on that one. I think the boss changed that one every other service. !00k miles. -

Last night when I left the shipper the truck was running fine and there were no warnings or check engine lights ect other than the random stuttering I mentioned previously.. After i got down the road a few miles is when it really started acting badly.
I managed to get a quick video while I was driving to show the stuttering it was doing as I tried to get up to speed. It got really bad at this point, but for the record after up to speed it was running ok, but obviously I didnt want to run it like this..
This is a vid from this morning. You can hear a squeaking/whistle kinda sound. Im thinking its the fuel pump internals or maybe some sort of air leak so its sucking air somehow in the fuel system.
For the record there was no actual water in the fuel, the fuel filter wasnt gummed up from water or anything but it was as I mentioned dirty and ready for a change. I was taking the truck in for a PM after this load.
Also my APU has been running non stop for the last 2 days off the same fuel tank. So the water in fuel warning was apparently just something the computer was throwing codes for.
Its starving for fuel when its trying to accelerate but idles or runs at speed ok. Its also hard to get started like its losing its prime.Last edited: May 19, 2018
