I rent Penske trucks for $600 a week, if it breaks they bring my driver another one, no shop no tools no nothing. Driver quits take the truck back while I wait to hire another one. Old trucks are cool but they just don't make much financial sense anymore in todays transportation climate. I'd have to really do some fancy footwork in excel to justify $45k on a pre 2000 truck, I'm just not seeing it.

Everybody thinks and operates theire business differently. I had and older 07 KW and it was a money pit I ended up buying a brand new truck and it was the smartest thing for me. My down time has been zero and once I hit 500k with this one and the warranty expires I’ll order another new one and trade this one in.

Boosted are you paying monthly on this truck or did you pay it full? Just curious is all. What we are planning is taking our good engine and putting it in newer body with bigger sleeper down the road.

I always wondered what a rental would cost, as that is what one company did that I used to work for. Just the $800 a week is $40,000 a year.....with mileage $62,500 for 50 weeks. I wonder how much repairs and truck maintenance cost the rental company. I also wonder how much they make for profit on that rate?

Guess l'm backwards from most people here. When my truck was new with warranty and 2000 per month payments l did everthing other than warranty and tires. When l had a trailer with a 1000/ month payment. I did everything on that thing. When they were both payed for l made a decision not to spend as much time under the truck. I run regional so l have a good working relationship with a local independent garage and the kocal Pete dealer. I spend around 12g each year on a 18 year old truck. I think its a reasonable number for my time. Now l do fix things in my own driveway/shop and assist the mechanic, run for parts, make sure its done the way l want and generally be a pita. But l pay my bill on time and don't whine too much when screwups happen so he lets it slide ;)

I’m paying $2400 a month but on the next one I should be able to put about 80-90k down and get it paid off in a year. That would put me in a great position then
