If you had a trainee who was on the ball with everything, how quickly would you be looking to get him to solo out?

2 weeks is the fastest I’ve solo’d someone. He was a previous yard jockey. Most are with me around 3 weeks. I had one guy that was on my truck for the entire month I was out. I don’t know what ended up happening with him. He could drive and back fine. He just couldn’t grasp the procedures and the qualcomm

I appreciate that info man for sure, I'm not in a rush to solo because I want to make sure I'm ready for it. My main thing is I was just wondering what the trainers were looking for to go ahead and let a guy solo out.

Another question, are you dispatched as a team or solo?

I'm for the most part, a non smoker, and my wife says I'm clean, also for the most part. Will that do?

I was soloed out in 2 weeks at May, I wouldn't rush it though especially if you have a good trainer. I wish I would have had another week or two in retrospect, it takes time to learn this job and the more you can learn with a trainer the better. I could hardly wait to get solo but once I was out there alone I wished I had more experience. Going on 8 years as a driver now and still learning things, I've done a lot of different jobs (no longer haul freight, home every night) and barley scratched the surface. I operate a lot of different stuff at work now, end dumps, flatbeds, roll offs , container chassis, solo dump trucks and truck and pup dumps. Learn something new about every week heh heh. [IMG]
