The problem with getting your insurance company to handle it is that you lose your 'no claims' premium discount. That can be a substantial increase to your premium.

If you have the DOT number of the carrier, simply contact their insurance company on your own and file a claim. Their insurance information can be found by looking up the DOT number on the FMCSA web site. More work on your part, but keeps you claims-free as far as your insurance is concerned.

Do let the carrier know of your intent, and give them 24 hours to settle before you file.

Just call you insurance and get your truck fixed, they will collect.
You pay a lot for insurance, let them earn a little of it.
After they get a case open you can talk downtime or get you own lawyer to prod them. Just don’t waste your time dealing with them, they will screw you over, that is what they are trained to do. Let the pros handle it.

Serves you right for parking in a truck stop and then going home. You'll get no sympathy from OTR drivers. ;)

Or just fix the truck yourself and get back to work.
Lesson learned and find better parking.
I would not own a truck if I couldn't park at home.
To much risk for damage, theft, hell fuel is getting to the place where you can take $1000 hit if someone steals your fuel.

That’s not going to happen. This fix is quite expensive. I wish I have other options to park my truck. I can’t park it in my home because neighbors will complain and I’ll be ticketed

So are you working the truck with 1 headlight? Are you not working waiting for them to call you back?
My neighbor would love to give me ticket for parking at home. But he can't cause I live here, nothing he can do about it.

This is what I have done in the past with great success.
It's amazing how quickly things change when they get a call from there own insurance company asking them about an accident they didn't report.
