Got my license at a tech school 2 weeks ago, starting applications now.
Looking for a local job anywhere in florida really. So far I've applied to Mclane, CBI, and sysco, and i'll be doing a few more food service companies as well. Outside of food service, do i have any other options? Do companies like Saia and Estes hire new grads with with no experience? the websites say 1 year exp required, but I'm gonna go ahead and get my endorsements next week and apply to those places anyway to see what comes back, but I'm curious to hear some other input. Thanks

Find a paving company and see if they'll let you drive a dump truck. Down there they should be able to work roads year round up here it's what the old guys who want to go south for the winter get into, they work about 8 months of the year and get laid off for the winter so they go south and stay warm.

I would think your school would have contact information for the companies that hire their students local or OTR. Haven’t they tried to help you find the right company?

Estes Express has a "dock to driver" program where they hire cdl permit drivers. Ask if they'll hire you.
Southeastern Freight Lines has some local work. One of the positions is "final mile" driver, plus some other "pickup & deliver" positions.
Gate Gourmet may have something. They deliver food carts to airliners at the airport.

Pretty sure the Southeastern "Final mile" position is driving a non-CDL box truck. I mean its still a job/money, but wont count towards experience.
