The problem with getting your insurance company to handle it is that you lose your 'no claims' premium discount. That can be a substantial increase to your premium.
If you have the DOT number of the carrier, simply contact their insurance company on your own and file a claim. Their insurance information can be found by looking up the DOT number on the FMCSA web site. More work on your part, but keeps you claims-free as far as your insurance is concerned.
Do let the carrier know of your intent, and give them 24 hours to settle before you file.

Just call you insurance and get your truck fixed, they will collect.
You pay a lot for insurance, let them earn a little of it.
After they get a case open you can talk downtime or get you own lawyer to prod them. Just don’t waste your time dealing with them, they will screw you over, that is what they are trained to do. Let the pros handle it.gilknight, Grumppy and Camelclutch Thank this. -

Lesson learned and find better parking.
I would not own a truck if I couldn't park at home.
To much risk for damage, theft, hell fuel is getting to the place where you can take $1000 hit if someone steals your fuel.Camelclutch Thanks this. -
