The one time I rented an SUV for a move and found out that most of the gas stations had removed the holdy thingee was the LAST TIME I ever wanted to drive and SUV ever again EVER. 30 mins filling gas tank = not fun

Also... on that subject you ever get dirty looks for fueling your own car in NJ o.0 Wha... I'm used to getting out and filling up... I don't need someone doing it for me... I'm a big girl really...

I dunno about NJ.. last I looked, it was a requirement[/i[] in Oregon that a station attendant fuel your car.

If it's not mandatory that I allow somebody else near my car, they can go hang.

I've been to a few gas stations where they've removed the holdback trigger. I typically put a gallon in and leave - often to just cross the road to the station there.

I think NJ is a state where you can't fuel your own vehicle. Which means I won't be going to NJ in my personal vehicle.

I prefer self service. It means that any screwups are on my head (I'm a pilot. We get anal about our fuel...it's the lifeblood of the engine that keeps us in the air.)

I dont know about the older ABF trucks but the new Sterlings have a 2 inch crossover pipe between the tanks on the bottom. You can fill them both up from either side of the truck if both valves are open. Makes it nice when your filling them up from empty and its winter in Canada!

If you don't mind me asking, what airline and equipment do you fly. Have always loved planes and after flying at my old job to get to my next load, the love has gotten stronger. Even thinking of giving up trucking to go fly.

you mean a driver would have to twist off the fuel tank cap, and THEN open the vent to the tank? adding two moves to fueling???? will never happen.....drivers already have a problem making an extra trip to the fuel desk, walking from pump 3 inside when their fuel card wont swipe. I cant imagine they'd want to twist open and closed a fuel tank vent. :biggrin_255:
