Watch out with the curb jobs. It's so it can blow hydraulic lines. I got out of ready mix because the hours are sporadic. In nice weather I worked 12-20 hour days. But when it rained etc we shut down.

I haven’t worked anything close to that.

Longest day has been like 14 hours. Most days are 9-10. We have the option to turn down loads after 12 hours.

We work in the rain too. I was feeding a pump in the rain today.

I get like 50-55 hours a week. It isn’t bad at all.

once your work hours get over a certain number for that week or day,
its actually not legal to drive...……..
10 is good 12 is ok,
I would think the company wouldn't let you go over your hours though...…
a guy a knew worked for a concrete company and they ran over service hours, and sometimes he refused to go, until he had his 10 hours off...…
because they always called him back shortly after he got home....
    according to him....

Not my company. They don’t seem to want to make a habit of stuff like that. Do people go over on hours? Sometimes, but I’ve never seen it.

This is a big company with like 30 something different locations. It’s pretty efficient we don’t have to go over on hours. My plant, only my plant with 30 drivers did an 880 yard job last Friday and we were still doing other jobs too. We do a lot of pumps and crane buckets.

Any of you guys wear muck boots?

I have numerous holes in my boots I’m just putting off buying another 200 dollar pair of boots until my feet start getting wet.

I feel like they would be better. Concrete drys out leather and my boots are always covered in it. Plus I can just spray them off. I do that now but it’s not good for the leather obviously but I’m past the point of caring.

No one I work with wears them but they all wear rubber covers over leather boots... so why not just get a rubber boot and not look like a 90 year old man...?

When I was hauling fuel to construction sites I got a pair of muck boots. Loved them and you can even get steel toes if needed. Also if you end up with new leather boots make sure before they ever hit a job site they get a REALLY GOOD waxing/oiling and that you keep up on it as that will keep then water proof and make them last longer.

Yeah that’s true I could have been better with the care.

were they hotter than leather boots in the summer?

I was in the Seattle area so summer wasnt to bad and the sites tended to dry out so Id switch back to my regular leather boots. They where a little warmer but I also wear thick wool socks year round with my boots which seems to help my feet stay dryer and more comfortable. I wear White's Boots now which are super expensive but they sure are comfortable even tho 90% of my days are just driving.

I’ll look at those too. I might just get a cheap pair for like 130 then if I blow through those I’ll get the rugged non steel toe work ones.

Mine get dirtiest in the yard washing up. It’s a swamp.
