Seems to me that Pete and Kenny have the right idea here. Let's see .... sales are down so lets not sponsor something. The automakers and the banks could learn alot from these two companies.
1pissedoffdriver Thanks this. -
It's happening a lot. Companies have to try to figure out where they'll get the most bang for their buck. Granted, it's nice to have trucks at the MATS, but just climbing in and seeing how "pretty" the interior is on the truck isn't quite the same effect as you'd get from seeing how nice it is AND being able to take it for a spin. They have a point, there. PLUS, consider how much money it probably is to sponsor the concert and to just be part of the show, hire drivers to get the trucks there, people to clean all the road crap off once it IS there, etc. There are probably a bunch of costs involved that they feel would be better applied elsewhere. I don't suppose Pete or KW will actually have sales suffer because people don't see their trucks at the MATS.
rocknroll nik and 1pissedoffdriver Thank this. -
Dang, I was really looking foward to seeing them there again. Well, there is always next year.
-
This aint the frist time they missed MATS. Back in the late 70's (I dont remember the year) Mack, International and Ford were the only truck makers at the show.
-
Approx. six months back, as I was fueling somewhere in north Mississippi, a driver pulled up in a new Mack cement mixer truck, fully rigged, work ready, lots of O/O goodies, looked NICE!
I actually have considered taking a HARD look at Macks for my next truck, and asked if I could look inside. He explained to me that his job was delivering Macks to potential customers for them to check out. As I walked back to my truck, I remember thinking that was a weird way to sell trucks; apparently I was wrong again! -
The new Macks are nothing like what comes to mind when you say Mack. A guy I was leased to bought a new one last spring and its is very nice. I wish I would of looked at them before I bought my Pete.
I don't blame PACCAR for pulling out of the show. I mean just think about all the cost associated with the show and how many trucks do they actually "sell" at it. I mean if a person is looking at a truck are they really gonna go to a truck show and fight your way through all the people just to find a person working the booth that has no idea what you are interested in. Plus you can't test drive one. I think the show was more for show then sell. -
dang hadn't been to MATS in few years guess they figured i wasn't going to make it this year too
-
It would blow your mind if you knew the cost to be inside one of these shows, dealing with the union people and all that crapp,in short alot of politics and aggrivation for the money.I was at SEMA for one of the big three,it is completely out of control.Paccar has a huge display, kind of too bad they couldn't just down size.If the weather would be nice it would be just as nice if they were outside.
-
WOW. Maybe they'll sponsor US! LOL. Well, we ARE the real people on here! The real deal! Maybe Peterbilt and Kenworth can team up to buy our server this year! Hey, it's only $5,000! I know they can afford that, haha.
Working Class Patriot Thanks this.
