If I start my pretrial, and fueling while in yard move for Start of day. Than switch back to regular on duty when I get to the fuel pump from my parking spot, am I in violation? Or DOT thoughts?

I would put it all on line 4

I use yard move for ....moves in the yard, or moving when on customer property, or if I bought fuel and am moving from pump to parking space. Kt allows me to edit driving time after the fact to either yard move of off duty move. I almost never use off duty move.

    Bank_Lbr and Oldironfan Thank this.

Trying to not look like an "outlaw" if the DOT looks my eld over.

Nah, using it for what it's used for is legit. Typically my yard moves are less than 2 minutes and a very short distance.
I'm sure they will more be looking for off duty moves and scrutinizing those. Specifically the ones that happen during mandatory rest breaks

I use yard move the entire time I'm at a shipper or receiver, since it puts me on line 4 where I'm supposed to be, and Garmin wants an annotation each and every time it is selected. Usually just use the last 4 of the BOL# I'm under, or simply "pick" if I don't have a BOL#. Because it logs you on line 4 (where you'd be anyway with on duty/not driving), I don't see why you couldn't just leave it there while fueling, too.

I'm using a generic eld. POV by pedigree Technologies. It only has 5,000 downloads on the app market.

Yep. I use yard move for nearly everything from being at our terminal, to railyard (i do intermodal), to fueling to being at customers. It's legal, it's legit. its done property. Been DOT'd 3 times since installing ELD (not AOBR)... not a single person has said. Even had a DOT officer asked me, uh, whats this yard move? After explaning and showing him regs, he says neat... it doesnt eat your drive time. USE it.
