Should be but wasn’t best I could tell on the 2 loads on I hauled with the trailer pinned.
I think it goes kind of the same as not running enough booster shim and pinning the front of the coffin beam against the top. When I loaded my first 986 in Decatur I had this happen. It moved weight off the booster but not near what you would thinkSAR, Oxbow and Razororange Thank this. -
SAR, Oxbow and Razororange Thank this.

Pretty much what I was trying to convey is,
The west coast trailers really only work with all the parts attached, doing 6/7 axle work with it really not practical. -
kylefitzy, SAR, Oxbow and 1 other person Thank this.

Thank you gentleman for all your input.
I was thinking that on some lighter loads, say a D6N that I had to get into a tight place, that I might be able to drop the booster and jeep and have less off track than my current trailer, although I can and have lifted my back axle at such times, so it may be about the same result. Keep in mind that my annual permit is quite forgiving on weight distribution until you get close to maxing out. The drawback is that I have to get a separate permit for each axle configuration, but they are only $128 per so it is not too bad. The per mile fee when near the max adds up pretty quickly though @ $.75 or so per mile, but far less expensive than running another truck, labor and time to remove the counterweight.
Again, thank you all for helping me out on this!!kylefitzy, Caterpillar Cowboy, Ruthless and 3 others Thank this. -
While hauling to a mine in Yukon territory two of us had to drop the jeep and fold the neck to be able to make a corner onto a very narrow bridge and ended up at 62000# on my drives for 50 miles of rough mine road. that was a slow ride. -
I don't mess with anything I can't do on 7, or even getting close to the limits of 7 axles too often, but I wonder if you could get it cheated back towards the neck enough that you could get by with a pin on drop axle behind your tandems. Lots of people I know up in Washington are running those these days, most have two drops ahead of the tandems too though.
Oxbow Thanks this.
