    Hmm... Smh, I'm confused.
This email simply states an estimated earnings potential.

This email is proof of what ?

I don't know what GST is, but if a driver is going to get it back, I don't see why it's taken in the first place. Is that a tax paid at the pump that the company reimburses?

The email states, you should be able to take home close to 7000. This is bait on the hook for fishing. Not much information concerning the family emergency, but were you expecting to get paid for experiencing a family emergency? Did you shut the truck off at night? The correct reply for this email is. Thank you for providing all the red flags concerning your employment practice.

    Condi and Oldironfan Thank this.

Sales tax also known as gst (goods and service tax) or hst (harmonized sales tax) is paid at the pump in the shown price and is then claimed back by the company. Here is a table for each provinces rates GST/HST calculator (and rates)
Each province calls it either gst or hst but for these purposes they are the same.

It is designed so only the end user pays the sales tax on the finished product. Some businesses would remit it to the government, the truck stop for example. Since trucking companies consume everything, they almost always get a refund. Cross border shipments are not subject to the shipper or receiver paying the carrier sales tax. When you buy a new piece of equipment you pay it then claim it back. If you sell your truck you collect it then send it to government.

There is no way the difference between 7000 per month and having your truck repossessed is simply by turning your truck off at night or poor driving habits. Yes, these will cost you, but not nearly that big of a difference.
