Oilfield. Crude, fuel, sand, water, etc.
SDavisEnterprise and rabbiporkchop Thank this. -
LTL Linehaul...if you can stand night work. Also $100k +.
Private fleets like Dean Foods, Franz Bakery, Grocery Haulers/Bimbo Bakeries, Shaw Flooring (Non Union), etc. Also Union with free bennies. $80-100k +.
Praxair. Also Union...make over $100k +.
And obviously UPS and USPS. $100k +.rabbiporkchop and already gone Thank this. -
Yeah the union bennies are top notch. My healthcare is 800 a month but free for me obviously. 401k and pension. Our pension is garbage though but our company might just buy us out and put 70 dollars a day in a 401k for us instead of our wack pension.
I knew the pension was screwed when I took this job though. Still no other local job is gonna pay 31 an hour with free health, ot after 8 and time and a half Saturday if I work them.already gone, Paddlewagon and Sho Nuff Thank this. -
rabbiporkchop and Sho Nuff Thank this.

Grocery DC's are a pain in the ### to deliver to. Long wait times, lumpers, all that crap. But if you're a private fleet driver, you don't have to deal with any of that. All you do is deliver to your chain store's. Live unload, no touch freight. In and out. Maybe do a couple backhauls and get paid trip rate. You do a 12 hour run in 9 hours, you still get paid the 12 with OT after 8. Extra days are paid time and half, second extra is doubletime. Holidays are paid triple time. ACME and ShopRite are the largest grocery chains in the NE, and they're operations are run pretty efficiently. I have no idea why OK grocery operates the way they do, but yeah...I agree, weekly or monthly bids...that's ridiculous. -
LTL line haul. It can take a couple of years or so before you make the big bucks. Unless you're on an extraboard that's rolling really good. But, you're up a lot at night, and can have some long days.

We don’t bid for start times.
Senior drivers start before the bottom feeders like me. They can leave at like 1 or 2 pm a lot of times meanwhile I’m still pouring concrete at 5:30 pm.
But they also have the option to stay. They could work a 14 every day if they want but most don’t. -
There might be a reason for it. When i was at us foods, a real ########## safety guy found some weak language in the contract to exploit, and started watering down the bids, so you were almost just bidding on a day off and start time, instead of a familiar area.
I screwed them good though, since we had a wheel board at the bottom of the seniority list, i refused a bid next time around. I bid to the extra board, on the wheel. Screwed them out of a lot of overtime, since they wanted to play games over the bids. They straightened out the bids, next go around. They couldnt afford the overtime they had to pay out.
