I ran across this article this morning. Amazon is trying to tempt entrepreneurs with a business opportunity that Amazon claims can net them as much as $300,000 a year. All you need is a verifiable $30,000 in the bank, a fleet of 20 to 40 delivery vans (with an equal number of drivers for said vans) for last mile deliveries from their DC's to the deliver location, and you can be on your way to making $300,000 a year. Amazon will get you deals on leasing vehicles and insurance. Of course you'll have an exclusive contract with Amazon and can't haul freight for anybody else. The sad part is that there will be people out there who will think this is a great idea and lose everything in the process.

Amazon says this business opportunity could make you up to $300K a year — here's how to apply

I can do almost 300k a year with one truck. If I had 20-30 employees that wouldn't even be in my radar

Amazon also managed to wipe out $17.5 billion from 8 different companies in one day. They bought out PillPak and CVS, Walgreens and Rite Aid lost about $14.5 billion.....

They're already starting to deliver their own loads...and from what I'm hearing, they have their own trucks now.

Amazon puts this kind of thing out there constantly to try to bolster their position for negotiations with their carriers. They talked about doing their own air freight as well. It's worked well for them.

We do LTL, and had an Amazon contract to go along with our Wayfair and many other customers.

We have already ditched the Amazon.

You would not believe how ridiculously demanding they are on the final mile couriers.

I wasn't in that segment.. just the cross dock portion.. but I spoke with one of our South Florida terminal managers when we did have it and she told me nightmare stories of how they catered to the customer on delivery schedules.
There was NO WAY to turn a profit, or even come close to breaking even.

If a guy in the Keys wanted his box at 6am on Tue.. he got it.
If he's the only delivery for 300 miles. Fine.
If there's another deliver in the Keys at 5pm and the rest is in Miami.. the delivery driver leaves and goes back

    There was NO negotiation.

Customer got exactly what they want.
That box may only pay $10.. too bad.

We dropped that like a hot rock.
