I deal with them all the time. If that exact same scenario happened to me i would of charged 750 dollars for wasting a day of my time, if they weren't willing to pay it i would of dropped the load, billed them 400 for tonu, and gotten another load to fit my needs. Capacity is tighter than it has ever been, you can practically demand any terms you want right now and have them met.

I don't think drivers can say the same. What do you think @spyder7723 ?

OP complains about running out of hours a half hour or so from where he hoped to be. Some cheerleader says the same thing that gets said in all these threads. Basically if you complain about running out of hours then you must not be making any money. The OP never mentioned anything about money.
Some of us on here can’t stand to not be efficient and not finish a job. It keeps a hard-workin fella up at night.
Other folks, I guess it just doesn’t bother them.longbedGTs, fargonaz, Tropsnart and 6 others Thank this. -
Oldironfan Thanks this.

Does it suck coming up an hour short? Sure thing. But show me any industry in North America that didn't Hagee utta own share of regulatory problems? There isn't one. I've learned to work with in our regulations and not let things bother me. I make great money and am legal 99.9999% of the time, the times im not legal are due to a slight screw up in my part where i end up over hos by a few minutes. -
Wait till you have to use the
' crap in a bag' tab.Oldironfan Thanks this. -
You don't deal with a threat. You tell them flat out if you can't keep an agreement, ****** ******.
This bs happens a lot and owners and driver always fall for it.06driver and Oldironfan Thank this. -
Always call the shipper to see if your load is ready and verify the appointment date and time and dock hours. Then call the receiver to verify the appointment date and time and dock hours. Ask both the shipper and receiver if there's parking and facilities available for you to take an 8 or 10 hour break on or near their property if needed. Move your truck accordingly, or reject the load if the shipping/receiving hours won't work for you.
Never count on dispatch to do that for you. It's up to you to manage your HOS.peterbilt_2005, MBAngel and 06driver Thank this. -
FWIW, I haven't yet been loaded by the likes of TQL or Coyote. For this exact reason.peterbilt_2005 and Oldironfan Thank this. -
Oxbow Thanks this.
