I deal with them all the time. If that exact same scenario happened to me i would of charged 750 dollars for wasting a day of my time, if they weren't willing to pay it i would of dropped the load, billed them 400 for tonu, and gotten another load to fit my needs. Capacity is tighter than it has ever been, you can practically demand any terms you want right now and have them met.

    What’s your point partner?

OP complains about running out of hours a half hour or so from where he hoped to be. Some cheerleader says the same thing that gets said in all these threads. Basically if you complain about running out of hours then you must not be making any money. The OP never mentioned anything about money.

Some of us on here can’t stand to not be efficient and not finish a job. It keeps a hard-workin fella up at night.

Other folks, I guess it just doesn’t bother them.

While I've never been an employee i have spent the majority of my life hiring and firing them, so i have a good idea of what employee drivers can expect to get. And right now if a guy has a proven track record he can get a cream of the crop job where he doesn't have to deal with the issues you are facing. A good driver with a good job would of gotten 150 minimum to waste a day over that faisco, but chances are it would have never happened cause a good driver shouldn't be working for a company loading some cheap as sin brokered dog food load.

I look at it a different way. If i was an electrician or plumber and lost a day on a job site due to things outside my control it wouldn't keep me up at night. Id be billing for that day regardless.

Does it suck coming up an hour short? Sure thing. But show me any industry in North America that didn't Hagee utta own share of regulatory problems? There isn't one. I've learned to work with in our regulations and not let things bother me. I make great money and am legal 99.9999% of the time, the times im not legal are due to a slight screw up in my part where i end up over hos by a few minutes.

    Right there, see it?

You don't deal with a threat. You tell them flat out if you can't keep an agreement, ****** ******.

This bs happens a lot and owners and driver always fall for it.

So, you don't call the shipper and receiver as part of trip planning?

Always call the shipper to see if your load is ready and verify the appointment date and time and dock hours. Then call the receiver to verify the appointment date and time and dock hours. Ask both the shipper and receiver if there's parking and facilities available for you to take an 8 or 10 hour break on or near their property if needed. Move your truck accordingly, or reject the load if the shipping/receiving hours won't work for you.

Never count on dispatch to do that for you. It's up to you to manage your HOS.

My response: "3 of your competitors are also sending me rate cons in the next 30 minutes. First one here gets my truck, and I'll roll only after I send back the signed document. I may or may not have time to call you to let you know you lost out. Good luck. I'll be waiting."

FWIW, I haven't yet been loaded by the likes of TQL or Coyote. For this exact reason.

Once again I was not given that info. I know I dumb for thinking dispatch knew what the he'll they are doing. I was hopeful. I just started with this carrier in beginning of June. I still am trying to figure why I need to fill state mileage on a trip envelope when elog should cover that? I'm not happy about that.
