It all depends on how they interpret. I remember that when I was doing Target dedicated out of Jeffersonville, I would return from trip and drop my mt trailer at the yard and bt to the TA 4 miles up the road for my break and then bt back 12-14 hours later. Always PC, and they said that it was a no no. They used the reason that it was not a Swift Terminal, even though they had a office and dispatch out of there. After a argument and then showing THEM what they had on the bulletin board, I proved my point. I was leaving the work place and returning to the same place

Have OFF-DRV in my Qualcomm now.

Approve your logs, log out, log back in, wait a few minutes for the log update and it should show up.

Cheters have nothing to do with PC, I used PC all the time, to bobtail to Walmart, movie theaters, malls etc.
Very convenient , and way more fun then buy anything at 3x overpriced item's in Peelots

the redone rules make no difference in wether you are a owner or company driver and these new exceptions will help some .. you may bobtail both ways from your home to your terminal or where you pick your loads up .... and you may drive loaded off duty to the nearest safe place to park when you are asked to leave a shipper or when asked to move your truck by a law officer ....... now the big deal is the rule also states a company may choose rules that are more strict than the rule or not allow pc miles at,all ........ so I can see a lot of companies not allowing it at all

I wish that was available when I was driving, my only methods were like one mentioned, drive for 4 minutes then stop, wait and repeat. Other option is logging out of the system then go do your thing, get back and log back in but your pushing some luck doing that....yes I have done it.
My only log violation I ever had was being bobtailed at a loves, I called to get fuel opened so I could get my 50 gallons and a free shower, I moved 30 feet and did not put myself on duty for the fuel so I wouldnt restart the break, got caught.

This is a major problem for me. I live in Encinal, TX, 25 miles north of the Laredo terminal. There is no mail delivery here and the tiny post office has a three year waiting list for mail boxes. There is a gas station, a Family Dollar as well as a Loves and Road Ranger on the other side of I-35.

Saturday I drove 37 miles to the Lowes in Laredo, 2 miles to the place I get my mail, 8 miles to the grocery store and 35 miles back home. One hour is not enough time to go 82 miles. Swift expects me to call logging assistance to get "permission" to drive the truck I own for more than an hour.

I've had 2.5 hours a day for off duty-driving since September, 2012 and have NEVER had a log violation. Swift's policy is within the FMCSA regulation but a complete failure of the spirit of the new regulation. One hour is simply not enough time on the occasions when it will be needed. I have sent an email to the VP of Owner Operations copied to several others in Phoenix and at my Laredo terminal.

In the meantime, I will be getting a log violation every time I go grocery shopping. I am also pissed that Swift thinks they can take from me. The idiot office drone who came up with this policy is probably the same one who had the stupidity to require DMs call every one of their drivers every day.

Oh and where I am now, if you're not under load you're expected to pc. On private property, expected to pc. Unless picking up or delivering ... Then line 6 - yard move, on duty moving, but not driving
