My husband and I have been the the trucking industry for a long time .We started in the bignsemi world and I did love it from 2005 to 2013 we even started our on company wasn't nothen big we were a fight company with one truckncausenwe couldn't get past the 2008 break down in the world and the 2010, just trying to survive was hard but we stayed in Business brokering our selfs and being on that side as a dispatcher except we didn't deal with no drivers . We went to expedite in 2013 and love it ! Running for a driver with no worrys until we found our dream home and it made expedite a new ball game we new we wanted to own our on.. But its funny people who own there own truck or trucks think theres no room for a home ! Am sorry thennwhy are you out here ? To make a company with trucks and vans ? Am not money hungry I do want to pay my bills and if I can and on to my company. I would love to show some owners how to treat people who drive for you . And yes one day maybe I can be at home more often or all the time but I'd help my drivers and take care of them and I'd expect them to have the same with us. Expedite is becoming bigger out here and before you know it they'll be more expedite trucks than big trucks ! Just my thoughts

I hope you don't have a life, because you certainly won't have one in this business. They want their pallets of stuff YESTERDAY.

Ok, Im jumping in and please those of you professionals, go easy, semi new.

How does one get started with being a expediter?
    What experience is needed?
    Sh1t!
Why does coming out of retirement have to be so fricking hard?

Just got my CDL A last june primarily been driving straights and 33 passenger buses. The pay is crap, and I haven't a lot of choices but to step up.

Would love to do HOTSHOT, but I can plunk down money for a truck and trailer but expediter sounds like, kind of, but not...? How does one even locate companies, ? Or do you have to have your own rig? Sorry I just ask a lot of questions.

Expedite trucking can be referred to as emergency trucking. Some trucks are owner operated, some are part of fleets with the driver independently contracted to a fleet owner.

For a newbie just getting into expediting, do 2 things.
    1. Checkout Expeditors Online. Those guys are the pros in the field.
Expedited Trucking Owner Operator Careers and Truck Sales

    2. Go to the Expedite Expo... there you can meet owners and reps from the many carriers in person.

Basically same as OTR trucking except you are a four wheeler and have more freedom, no scales no HOS. Loads are usually overnight deliveries and its all time sensitive freight, if you dont have stamina to do 1000 miles next day delivery, you wont do good in expediting. I personally love it

I am s company driver 60/40 i pay for gas, drive little van. I tell you what after 10 yrs of OTR trucking, this job is so easy to me and a lot less stress to deal with, although i do miss driving s big rig, thats about it, everything else i dont miss especially the eld crap and the DOT treating us like criminals, also no more waiting to get loaded or unloaded and big lines and 20 trucks at same place running reefers, expediting is in and out, and yes i am solo. Company driver, will buy my own cargovan though in the future, made up my mind, this easily replaces trucking headaches , just not worth it anymore for me.
