he told them he needed routed back... mega companies have freight out the ying yang, so much that there aren't enough drivers to haul all of it, so we're told. They could have routed him homeward, but, out of spite, most likely, they didn't. I applaud the op's ballsy act of defiance.

And don't worry, I'm sure the multi billion dollar mega company will be just fine. They will likely take the $400 out of his last check or even more likely, just keep the whole thing.

He should have just quit while home to start with. You don't know what freight was going where at that time so you can NOT make that claim they could have did anything. As to this immature act of defiance as you call it. When does this #### stop? One of the primary reasons the mega carriers is the way they are now is from crap like this. This is a two way street. When home just quit? Why not do that. Huh? Just quit while at home not 4 days out. I can't strees this enough. You are going to quit. Quit, leaving a terminal under those circumstances is stupid. I don't handle stupid well as it is. Everything this OP did was wrong. That's OK you go on celebrating this kind of stupid go on ahead. Hell I hope you feel chill bumps running up and down your legs as you celebrate him sticking it to that carrier. I will not just like I will never like what carriers do to drivers as Arrow did a number of years ago.

Seems that if you want to make things better for drivers you might use some of your vast time and energy and knowledge to hammer on these huge impersonal companies that stick it to drivers on a daily basis instead of hammering on a lone driver who, probably fed up with a years worth of crap treatment decided to leave with some dignity instead of allowing them to bend him over one last time

Number 1 you don't know what kind of activity I engage in throughout my day. There are several fleet owners that I have on many occasions called out as being way too mean. In fact i was speaking to one the other day. Oh by the way in the OPs case it was not years it was a year and we have only his side of that year's happenings. If the OP wanted to leave with dignity as you called it all he had to do was just quit when at that terminal. This is what infuriates me. Knowing you are going to quit in 4 days. FOUR days, and you leave the terminal in company equipment like that. Then after pulling that kind of stunt you call it leaving with dignity? Did I read that right? Look I blame the carriers just as much as I do the drivers. BOTH have bad histories here. I am not assigning horns and halos here. I'm just saying this crap has got to stop.

never play the "buddy game" because if it came to it, most will cut you loose without thinking twice. That's my commentary regarding this matter.[/QUOTE]

I have to agree, as I have stated on here several times. They always tell you we are "all family here", but I never wanted or want to be part of any company family. I know as you have stated, many will get rid of you in a second if anything happens that they don't like. I have read and heard many many a story of how its the drivers fault, or the drivers attitude, and they care about their drivers and such, and the thousands of ads on how we treat drivers well..large and small companies, and I am sure a few try to.

I always think of it like this..care about them as much as they care about you. (Now, I know there are/were some good LTL and line-haul companies, so they're not what I'm talking about here).

On another note, many drivers who post on here are only in their first 1-8 years of driving or so, but let them be in trucking long enough and they will find out how good their company is or how good most are. They have just not been out here long enough to be in a position to rattle- off on other drivers attitudes and categorizing them etc. Evenutually they will end up in the same situation with a company and realize that its not always the drivers bad attitude or fault.

Lastly, much of what I read on this site is not professional constructive conversation-just lots of smart-mouth non-constructive statements, some trying to prove themselves by how slick they can be with words, and with childish pictures, and some trying to belittle others-not coming from what I would consider mature professional drivers. They are the ones who always reply " oh and you know it all" , or " here we go again" etc. Where have all the real truckers gone?

Well, unfortunately I agree with most of what you said. It's sad but why would the general public and most businesses not think drivers are low life trash when the majority of the ones they see are dressed worse than most homeless people, and smell about the same.

Driving wrecklessy always on their phone not paying attention, and if you offer any constructive criticism you'll get profanity laced foul mouthed reply. I can't really be too upset, at least they are trying to work, seeing how no other job on the planet would hire them.

There are still some professional drivers out here that look and walk the part, but it's a dying breed and getting harder to find :-(

Yes. He left on his own terms rather than letting the company run him around until they felt like routing him home.

Lol, maybe that's how some of those companies have 10+ year drivers. The poor driver put his 2weeks notice in 9 years ago and had "nothing going that way" since

I hope to God you are not this dense. I'm hoping you are acting this way to be funny. If you are really this dense I hope you stay the hell out of the Hampton Roads area of Virginia.
