Time to stand up drivers!

If drivers strike against these rail yards would you shut it down for a few days to make a change?

CDL drivers, how did we allow this profession to fall so far. We are the lifeblood of this country, we are what supplies every business with product throughout the entire country and we now are reduced to begging for our containers and trailers from these rail yards, forced to sit for hrs on end every day while these union operators take collective breaks and shift changes, just to be left with a container that is in no way roadworthy. How have we allowed this to happen! WE ARE THE CUSTOMER! Without us nothing moves, this entire country is crippled. How do we allow this to happen day in and day out! I am an owner operator with a couple trucks running under a fairly small carrier. This morning I came in at 3am after working a 16hr shift yesterday, and drove over an hr to CN Harvey rail port to pick up my container. At the gate I was told I was banned from the yard for dropping my empty in the lot and not waiting for a lift off the week prior. On this particular day I attempted to do so and waited patiently for over 25 min as the train that was blocking the lift lane was being unloaded by the operators. At this point I decided #### this, I am the customer this rail is thriving off of my labor, I will not sit here any longer! I dropped my empty in the other lot and left. How many of you have been in the same position? Where else in the world would you as a customer be expected to sit for hrs before being helped! When is it enough drivers? It's time to show them that we will not allow them to dictate our day, will not allow them to disrespect us with their collective breaks and threats of yard bans! It only takes a few to start to change things drivers, I cannot do it alone! We need to strike these yards and take back our respect and our pride and bring this profession back to a time when a driver waking up at 2am to get in a truck and risk his life to deliver donuts to this country's fat ### kids earned a respectable wage. Today is Thursday the 12th, on Mon the 23rd my trucks will be parked outside the gates of LPC, if there is support, we will shut that rail down and demand the changes that we deserve! If you are tired of working an extra 4hrs a day for free, tired of being forced to hook to 5 ######## chassis before you can get your box lifted to what's still a #### chassis and take your chances on road, stand with us!

YOU ARE NOT THE CUSTOMER, you are the service provider.

There are plenty more of trucks out there that will take the work if you are not willing to play by their rules.

You are paid for that labor, you accepted their terms and if you didn't, then like I said someone else would pick the load up.

As much as we are the backbone of the country, we are part of the big picture, and without the customer - in your case the rail company - we would not be able to work.

Here’s a thought, quit pulling container freight. Rail and ports have always been $:(t work, paying garbage wages. There is plenty of freight to be moved in this country.

I don't know if he would but maybe instead of robots, we should look at cats driving trucks.
