Hello everyone I am new to site and really wanna get into trucking. What are my options on getting started ? Any companies offer training ?
Also how do you guys and your family handle you being away so much? My wife doesnt like the idea of OTR driving but what about regional routes, how often are they home?
Any tips for studying for the test , what areas do I need to study? Took one practice yesterday got a 76% first one tho.
Sorry for so many questions.
Hi everyone! I'm new!

( FILL IN THE BLANK ) it seemed $7k was owed? ( correct if I'm mistaken ) I had zero worries of myself fulfilling contract, but life can take wicked turns..... Murphy's Law says.... I'll hit 119000 miles and have a major issue happen! If prorated, great....though I could not get a straight answer. So I passed. My new CDL was 3k.... my sign on bonus was 5k where I'm at ( paid at 1k for first 5 months ).... it became a no brainer for me. But I had past experience, I should add....just let my CDL lapse for 2 years.
Roehl is just one of MANY options.... your best bet , imo, is to choose a company that fits you as close as possible.... you're gonna need a minimum of 1 year experience.... so if company sponsors and pays, you are going to give them a year.... consider that as part of your base pay. Mine was cheaper as I only took 2 weeks with years of prior experience.... So 3k from what I hear is "cheap".... Schneider offered me a refresher, and 3 months contract.... But I could not get the work/fleet I was interested in.
Lots of options... just research. -

Easier said then done ha. Wife just doesnt like change specially since I've with my current company for 5 years. I'm just done working night shift and 12 hour days.
What is work week like for drivers, make your own schedule or does the company ? -
Well... like we say in my country, you'll be swapping 6 for half dozen then.okiedokie Thanks this. -
Lets see.....wife doesn't like it. Strike 1
Tierd of long shifts. Strike 2
Do you see a pattern developing. Want to be a truck start local, that's my advice.
