Fan clutch issue need help.

    I have a 2013 Cascadia with DD15 engine,


    Ac wasn’t blowing cold when stationary, the Loves mechanic changed the fan clutch, as soon as we turned the engine the fan clutch did not disengage, mechanic said it might be fan clutch solenoid issue. Ac is now blowing cold so that problem is fixed. The fan clutch solenoid was changed 5 days laters, still fan clutch will not disengage.


    Any idea what I should look at? help would be appreciated.

    It may be a ecm program issue. But you should check you solinoid older ones are air powered and electric relay.

    Did the mechanic actually check the fan clutch out or just assume there was a problem?

    Check that the mechanic didn't install the fan solenoid backwards.

    I changed my fan solenoid at night one time and didn't remember which side of the fan solenoid was the inlet and the other the outlet.

    Well, when the fan stayed on and never turned off I figured out I had it on backwards.

    Yes it was checked. Old clutch didn’t work

    Some clutches are air applied, spring released. Others are spring applied and air released. If it went from not working to stuck on after changing the fan clutch I'd guess the fan clutch that was installed was not the correct one. Probably was not the original issue and is now causing additional problems.

    My first thought was the fan clutch is one of those cheap remanned units. They dont disengage.

    I had this issue with the fan on the CAT C15 in my Columbia. Turned out to be the AC high pressure switch. The plug had melted and was shorting out. Replaced,.. problem solved.
