Canada treats ALL DUIs as a felony, it doesn't matter what level it is here.

Correct. It’s a felony. There is no hard fast rule with cbsa, don’t bother calling to see if they will allow you entry. They won’t tell you. The general rule is: dui 5 years or younger, no entry, 5-10 years old with no other criminal convictions in that time, eligible for entry by paying a 200 fee, 10+ years with no criminal convictions, your deemed rehabilitated and SHOULD be allowed entry. Now, it’s fully up to the officer. The only way to tell for sure if you will be allowed entry is to apply for a FAST card. Your background is reviewed by both countries, and both have to approve you for entry into the program. If your approved, it’s good for 5 years, costs 50 bucks. Your basically pre cleared, so you get asked minimal questions. Any questions, feel free to shoot me a message.

The system has changed since then. You now have to have an e-manifest to enter Canada. Still have to put a pars sticker on you customs invoice. Hand the e-manifest, customs sheet with the pars sticker, and passport to the customs agent. Stamp stamp you’re on your way.

CBSA considers bounced cheques an indication of fraud (even if it isn't) so don't even bother with a DUI on record. Call the office at the crossing you are planning on visiting before going there, and ask if you would be permitted to enter Canada. Will save a lot of headaches.

    "Indictable offense", technically.

Canada told me all of the hoops that they wanted me to jump through to " PARDON " my 20 year old sins and I said - well you can probably figure out the rest .

They will not give you an answer. Because they do not have access to the persons criminal record at that time. You would be amazed at how people forget things.

You would be amazed to learn what I have learned to forget things that cannot be unseen.

Forgetting is a grace for those of us who can do so later in life. But not too much so. It is much easier if you have not done much to worry about.

Some will find my last sentance such a irony due to a number of my stories past involving dollar trucks and so forth in the days of old. Ive already had plenty of Mr Policeman standing on my fuel tank threatening to write and not stop until I cannot continue to sign his tickets many a time. That's punishment plenty.
