all i can tell you is go in clean cut, clean shaven, like your trying for a executive job (in a suit). all they keep telling me is how i stood out compared to the other applicants because of my appearance and how i handled myself in the interview. ya gotta sell yourself. i told them id work as necessary....and so on and so on....and the main thing was having an ownership attitude. that truck is my truck and if it dont go "i" aint makin. plus i represent my company in front of the customer. shake hands. get names. ask how their doing. never "piss" them off. now im sure alot of people on here will have something to say........but im just answering the question of how i got the job.......by selling myself.

WoW I survived my first week. gotta get better on the hazmat regs. hard to find time to read the compliance book when your running during the week but i'll fit it in somewhere. havent messed up, tore anything up, run over anybody or anything like that. just gotta get better at everything which im hoping comes with time...just alot of lil things like remembering to take the company cell phone with me so i dont have to walk all the way back to the truck when a customer wants me to ask dispatch a question. all in all im happy with the way my first week went. today definitely went better than tuesday ( my first day by myself ) so i must be doing something right....i hope lol

It gets easier, and you'll start remembering things more as time goes by! Sounds like you're off to a good start.:yes2557:

In layman's term you been driving for 40 yrs now LOL. I work with a guy who's been driving for 41yrs, I call him grandpa. I always tell him, that no you haven't been driving 41yrs from the looks of you it is more like 100 yrs LOL.. For every yr you been driving especially OTR just add on a couple of yrs do to stress, eating crappy TS food. Listening to all the crying on the CB, taken showers in,filthy TS bathrooms, and being treated like crap..:biggrin_255:

well Tuesday was.......uh fun to say the least. Drove in the snow all day. I lived, didnt run anyone over (that i know of ) and made it thru the whole day. Today might be a different story. I was told to call at 8:00 am before even leaving my house because it iced all night and now is snowing heavily. I could go for a snow day! At any rate I was still able to make 6 stops yesterday. I guess that was okay.
