I know several drivers that have been with Greatwide for years and doing real well there. I know they've been able to upgrade the standard of living for their families, by buying new homes and automobiles.

Well the o mb es I dealt with for about 9 months starved me and I lost money with them .
Now I am with a company that I make 88% and kicking butt . Lesson I learned in 40 plus years if they are part of the ATA and run by bean counters run away faster and faster.

Driver you must have been working for on agent, let me help you I have been here over two years and every year I gross over 250,000, so don't say great wide say you was not smart enough to not let a agent Ben you over, I tell guys here don't work for agent, you was working for on agent, when you domicile with a agent, that agent own your tail, they control your every move, I put in my first 90 days in hell under a agent, as soon as I could move to Central I did, as I everyone here there are bad apples in the bag, but all are bad, atl agent is by far the lowest of the low ok, but those that makes great wide a bad company no, you need to own your mistake which was to stay with on agent that didn't care one hell about you are anyone else, the Tampa agent is no better than atl agent, he have cheaper loads than hell, and if you are under guess what run it are you are out, so keep it 100%, you can make it here, just don't jump in bed with an agent antil you know which one is good are bad, and the only way is to start with Central, and make your money that way, you feel for the B's speak that they call you with, let me run your truck I have good paying loads, really show me,ok and then this B's about 2 per mile is good money, ps I get 3.51 per mile loaded are empty, in my circle we pass on Walmart loads, we pass up Amazon loads, we pass up ups loads, so get your head in the game, and we are power only, know run with that, great wide agent have work you must do your homework then you can bank, come here and go work for on agent is a no no,, I put 5 of my friends down with my people, and every one of us is banking, 50 of us us the same agent, and 40 are on Central dispatch so go figure that out,

In todays world I would not try and run a trucking business without having enough technology know how to create an internet forum account.

    Remington 12 gauge works.

Unless your dad has been running local all these years. Or was thinking about independent with his own authority. He knows what to do! But my advise is, tell him to start talking to owner operators and leased drivers. Who are leased onto a company. Feel out who runs where he likes, has year round freight, what the pay is etc... At same time pick up recruiting mags from the truck stops (There just inside the door) start making calls and keep notes. Decide who he wants to lease his equipment onto and get to work. He can either manage his money or it will manage him. After that it's sink or swim so come back for advise, tips, or help.
