Unless things have changed recently landstar will not send you plates until your truck has passed inspection. You will have to get temp tag and insurance through OOIDA or tow it to the inspections site. If you drive it to inspection without proper registration you will fail inspection. Ask them monday.

 

There's a place in Arkansas that will give you the temp insurance for like $250.

But I think this guy owns his truck already, so he probably already has insurance.

Landstar's insurance is CHEAP once you finally make it in.

 

I thought they required a year of mountain winter driving?

 

They say winter driving. Don't think I heard the mountain part. But I'm sure it's meant to mean you've muddled your way through the snow.

 

When did that start? I got my plates, permits, stickers, and everything before I went for my inspection. That was in January 2015. One of the things they inspected for was the presence of the Landstar decals. At least, that was on the form.

you need to tell the shop it's a IN BOUND landstar dot NOT the standard landstar 120 day dot...
you must pay for it. landstar pays for the rest of the standard 120 day dot's as long as you pass them.
when I had mine done 10/2017 I still had my us xpress logo's and numbers on the truck
I didn't put my landstar logo on until the last day orientation when I got my custom numbers made... black numbers on a white background (like a mail box) looks like brown fecal matter on a red truck
I have my own plate and insurance so that wasn't a problem I just had them fedex everything to indy

 

I was a dealer mechanic at hunters peterbilt before I started driving I know what goes into a dot .I used to do them. Without registration I can't pass so how can that work?

IV been running tanker in the Appalachians the last few years, I know it's not the Rockies but I'm fine with winter driving.
