Traveling with a pet

I have a team who has a cat, they trained the cat to hide in a small cubby and not leave until it is told too.

They have a regular load at a chemical plant so when they arrive for a pickup and they tell the cat to go into the cubby, then goes into the sleeper and looks around then the guard asked where the cat is and they say it is staying at the hotel with the other cats, he laughs and lets them pass. Then they get loaded and leaves, they tell him to come out.

I had the cat for 10 days when they went on vacation, it is a pretty laid back cat, and when they told me to keep him inline, I tried out the command and he went to a little box in the hall way and hid in there until I called him back out, he went right where he was laying and just was chilled out.

 

That's pretty good for a cat. they usually don't care about you unless they want something.

 

The cat in the movie Meet the Parents was well trained.

 

They can barely keep track of HOS for their drivers using a computer and a telephone. Usually, until a driver's pet causes a rukus at a customer, pet policy is something ignored by trucking companies, like bad directions.

 

Many times the first notice you have a customer doesn't allow pets is a sign on their gate or a security guard telling you you can't enter because of your pet. It's not something many dispatchers think is important to know, record, or pass along to drivers.

 

Think you''ll find as long as you keep them in the truck you'll be ok, best call up the receiver and check to find out exactly what " no pets " means.

 

If they will let Dave in you could haul in a goat...

 

For cats you can get them labeled as medical equipment.

That's not a pet sir, it's a medical device!

 

I’ve never had a problem with this; but, it seems if they stay in the cab of the truck it shouldn’t be a problem; but, it seems it is some places

 

Some places are a problem looking for an excuse to happen.
