That was my backup plan in case I lost my cdl for some reason.

Car/van delivery drivers in my area pay $20 per hour, that's home everyday plus full benefits. Amazon is creating a pile of these jobs. There are some low paying contractors as well but their turnover and accident rates will sink them.

 

Wtf's that about? I didn't sense him boasting about it ... just matter of fact and expressing his gratitude to the site.

 

On an hourly basis, @ $14, he's making more than a majority of otr drivers.

 

What does a Walmart Yard Spotter earn? Maybe he could have a do-over and work toward Walmart DC Yard work.

 

With this logic, you make more than a majority of everyone working 1 hour a week at $100/hr.

I would say, do whatever makes you happy. Good luck and I hope the job works out for you...but I have to agree with everybody else...the pay is kind of low.

If the job doesn't work out...you might wanna check out LTL dockwork. UPS Freight has full-time dockworker positions...and all you do is unload, reload trailers. Starting pay is around $16-17 and hour...which is more than what you'll be making...and you top out around $28 after 4 years. Easy work...but fast paced. Everything is palletized. Don't need a CDL either...but if you do retain your CDL, you might have to do some P&D runs here and there on occasions if they're short handed. Plus, you can move up to a Yard Jockey position...if that's what you want to do. They're currently in contract negotiations, so starting pay and top rate should be a lot higher.



You can also check out Mail Hauling driving straight trucks for either a Contractor or USPS directly as a MVO driver. Contractors will pay around $21 an hour...around $26 if you deny healthcare. USPS MVO will pay around $20 an hour to start...top out close to $30, with OT after 8, doubletime after 10, shift differential, and Sunday premium pay. Easy work...picking up Mail and Parcels on racks with wheels, and only picking up and delivering to USPS facilities.

 

I just saw a taco bell in Deforest, Wisconsin saying up to $14 per hour painted on the doors. Also the Kwik Trip next door said $14.65 for 3rd shift. Go figure.
