There's alot of guys running forklifts and working in warehouses with a CDL in their wallet. Just too much hassle, aggravation, regulations, traffic, elogs, fighting for parking, etc to be out there on the road anymore. Not for what those jobs pay. If I wasn't working an LTL job, that's probably where I'd be. I walked away from the road 20 years ago when Jerry Moyes bought out MS Carriers and I've never looked back.

25 years ago I was making $15 at Roadway unloading trucks part time.

Good luck OP. You sound excited to have the position and I wish you the very best.

I wonder if Walmart treats its drivers better than those delivering to the DCs. I refuse to shop and drive for walmart.

OP, you should do the same for us truckers... we are their customers and they treat us like poop.

This figure doesn't included the 80 hours of off duty that your in your truck

Holy crap you really threw in the towel with life bro. I made 14 bucks an hour 20 years ago working on the docks at cold storage loading trucks with those same benifits. I was kid then though and living in my moms house. That’s not even enough money to buy groceries at the end of the week let alone anything else. That’s no way to live as an adult. Not sure if this is a thread about how great of pay you getting but #### I think burger flippers at McDonald’s make that much

I wouldn’t even take a job that paid 14 an hour detention. And I don’t really get detained much hauling flatbed.

I make anywhere from $23-28/hour CAD running 5-6 days a week home on weekends.

I could barely keep up with bills at $14/hour.
