Actually my CB radio antenna does get better received. I had a fan back of my cab, it's actually AC because when you are hot that's when I use it.
antennas pointed forwards and fans mounted on backs of sleepers

I had mine tilted forward slightly for SWR purposes. Standing straight up caused my SWR to be around a 4:1 ratio. When testing using a meter, I could see that the further I tilted the antenna, the lower my SWR got. Once I had at least a 1:2 ratio, I left it alone.

I tilted mine forward because I drive under a silo multiple times daily to load and it keeps my antenna from catching the bottom of the silo. Sometimes its a practical reason.

scottied67 and skellr Thank this.

Dude just idled past me in a parking lot with his twin 5' fiberglass antennas tilted forward about a 45 degree angle. No way in hell they will stand up straight unless he drives 150mph. These guys must must not know that performance degrades with each degree of tilt. He looked cool though

Do they need to be perfectly aaavperpendicular to the groung? If its just the tip, i doubt very much that changing an inch of coppers angle alone will be the downfall of the trans/rx. Something that is plug and play like that, ya'll get so worked up over speculation that is has negative effects.
I think back to my military days... all our antennas were mounted at the rear, and attached to the front of the vehicle. They had zero chance of standing up.....
