I remember hearing on the news awhile back that a bus driver lost his CDL over back child support. I know a man needs not to be a dead beat and provide for his children, but some women do play the system and often they are the ones that ran around and caused the divorce and blow the money on stupid stuff. What I don't get is if the CDL is your paycheck how does taking that away help him pay the support???:biggrin_2554:

    NoTarps,

I know a guy who was in jail more times than I can remember, for none payment.

Problem was, he had physical custody of his child most of the time. The mother wouldn't care for him. Would leave the child in the dads care for months on end. Then promptly come get the child and have the guy locked up for none payment, when she needed money, or he made a move to see a lawyer.

The system is broke...thanks to our government.

Another problem that can come into play is when support is being withheld from a person's paycheck and paid in by the employer. If your employer doesn't get the payments sent in, it can still come back on the person paying it.

First of all, things have changed since you were in the game back in 1966! I THOUGHT we had 2 kids together, after we broke up all of HER friends came to me and told me those were NOT my kids! At the time I scrimped and saved and I could only afford one DNA test and sure enough I WAS NOT THE FATHER! even though I had paid her for a couple of years I get none of that money back for paying for another mans child, heck I was lucky a judge let me stop paying for that one! They dont have to ya know! In all fairness you would think they could take the amount I paid for that one and give me credit on what I owe!

Needless to say after that DNA test she wasnt real cooperative in testing the other one and I have not had the money to pay a Lawyer, DNA test fees etc. to get a judge to order her to submit the other child to testing.
So, if you were me would you really think you were the father of the other one since she wont test him without a court order?

So, I dont see it as I am not living up to my obligation in any way, she has already gotten thousands of dollars from me for a child that I proved wasnt mine and now she wont let me prove that I am not the father of the other one!

Child Support laws need to be changed! There is no common sense to these laws! Example; A friend of mine got together with a woman who had a child already, real father was not in the picture, he ended up adopting the child legally. They broke up and she got back together with the kids biological father, YOU GUESSED IT! My friend has to pay child support to this couple for them to raise their OWN kid!

So, I am not a deadbeat dad, I am one of many men out there who are being taken advantage of by an evil woman!

yeah child support laws are way out there. most states (99%) are for the woman. i got a child that was born in kentucky. i told the mother i wanted to be part of the little guys life. she had her numbers changed and everything. i didn't hear from her in almost a year after the kid was born. then i heard from her in a forum of papers. sueing for child support. in the state of kentucky a father HAS to fight for his rights. where the other state give them to you. well with no money all i could do is pay for him. well i ended up find out she moved back to cally. and there nothing i can do about it. 1st reason. in the state of kentucky eye's i don't have any rights to him. 2nd reason she's been there to long. she been there for almost 3 year's now. yeah i don't pay support anymore. b/c she did move away with out sayin anything. but i guess she didn't have too. so yes the child support laws do need to be changed. they don't help the father. just the mother.

I've found that child support is really set up to be pretty reasonable when both parents aren't making a fortune. We're talking like $60 to $90 a week even for a couple kids. When the father makes a really good living the whole thing becomes a huge scam, like the child's needs somehow were 10 times someone else's kids. $1200 to $1500 a month.

The biggest issue hitting parents who pay.

Judges who allow the custodial parent, a blank check.

3 states (mine is one) that I am aware of, will allow the Judge to set child support at what he deems is "fair". Anything is possible, as long as it is NOT under the Federal Guidelines.

Your pay stub and tax returns are not used to calculate these figures. The custodial parents request, and the Judges expectations, are all that is considered.

If the parent who is paying that amount, can't afford it. IE Doesn't make enough. He/She needs to get another job, so ordered by the Judge. Thereby setting themselves up for even higher payments in the future.

I don't see the benefit to the child, if mom or dad has to work 3 jobs to pay child support. When does that parent have time for visitation? How does it effect the quality of said visitation?

I see, well I'm not divorced and we have 3 kids, but the state "calculator" online seemed pretty reasonable. Frankly I don't see how she'd make it.

I can tell you I pay almost $400 a month for one child, makes it hard to save up for a Lawyer to fight it! That amount was set years ago when I was making $7.50/hr! How is that fair?
