If you have an automatic transmission and it won't crank and you are getting electrical fault warning message, then see if any transmission indicators are coming on at key on such as lights in shift pad or anything in the LCD display. The engine and trans have to communicate with each other first before they allow you to crank the engine.

Been working on my prostar over 3 years time to help. I've had this problem for six months but have managed to keep going without a day in the dealer. My solution. Starter went out. Put new. Alternator went out, put new. Battery went out, put new. Truck won't start when hot. Starts fine every morning but I would keep it running the whole day. Cleaned all power cables. And I mean all. One day disabled my dashboard and behind the cup holder found power disconnect switch. Bolted the two red wires in one port and disconnected the small plug. 2 month now no problem, fires every time I shut it down.

hello everybody I am writing this reply after working (oil change) on a customers 2009 international prostar with the Cummings isx. came to the shop to preform service and it did not start after oil change. I noticed there was no gauges working or responding and there was a bright yellow triangle light that was on and said electrical fault on the LCD screen. after resetting and checking all filters. the truck did not start still. so I checked signal from ignition to ECM and it was ok but the ECM was not responding.so we replaced ECM and after that truck started right up! I hope my reply helps or at least points you In the right direction.

My truck was doing the same thing, gas pedal not responding, i followed the cables from the pedal to the engine and protected them up with one o those plastic hose and ziptides to make sure is not vibrating and touching the engine and the problem was fix, i have drive the truck for 2 weeks and it has not done it again . . .
I also clean the batterys terminals and put some grease on them.

    Hi guys
My Prostar 2010 , ISX 871 having similar issues. Yesterday I was about to turn in on Flying J in Memphis my engine goes off. Ignition on and I have electrical fault. After 20 minutes I disconnected battery and it went off. I tried to get on parking but my engine goes off again. Electrical fault. Long story. I let it stand for some time and electrical issues is gone. Start again but it goes off. I managed to park. Every time I have electrical issue I can not start and prime pump is not working. Every 5 or 10 minutes electrical issues goes away I start but it does not stay long running. I checked mega fuse , power wire for Body Control Module , ECM fuse ,relays, ignition switc , i took out panel on driver side to check connections on BCM but found nothing. So electrical issues was going on and off. Once it went off and i stared truck , moved it from spot to spot and let it run. After maybe 20 minutes It goes off and that was it. Now I have constant electrical fault and ofc no way to start my truck.

Nothing wrong with your body controller. You engine is dying. Its the engine that is losing electrical power, that is why it is shutting off. Check your ecm power harness and fuses.

    Thank you for replying back.
I do so much about my truck and I do not mind paying shops to fix it but I know how it will end , spending thousands of $ and having same issue. So I did check power supply, it is all good , I checked fuse 30 AMP by firewall , good , I see transfer ( prime )pump not working and I was wondering is pin 41 for prime pump. I would love to know if signal even is getting out of ECM or I have bad wires. I checked pump by connecting directly to power and it is good , I opened shut off valve to make sure It is not closed ... I am trying to figure out if my EMC is fried since "electrical fault" was coming and getting off 20 times yesterday but today has been constant.
Thank you one more time for finding time to reply to my post.

The "Electrical Fault" is a messaged displayed by the cluster when it has lost communication with a device it's programmed to communicate with. The primer pump not working will not cause an engine to quit. So either you are losing main battery positive, main ground, or ignition. 99% of the time, it is a wiring problem, but older ECMs do suffer broken solder joints inside on the motherboard power connectors. When the engine is hot and the ECM becomes heat soaked, metal expands enough to break the electrical connection inside. See if it is logging any fault codes.
