I bought an 86 Ford Ranger off eBay in Brewster, MN and am having it shipped to Amarillo, TX. The broker is having trouble finding a carrier due to the location of the pick up(Brewster, MN). Is the SW corner of MN really a tough area to find a carrier or is the broker just blowing smoke? Shipping cost is $1030 and I will be billed for that amount...which inc. a 3% fee to use my card. Once the truck is picked up, that will come out of my account. It's been about 2 weeks so far and the broker keeps saying it's a tough area to get a truck in to get the vehicle picked up. Just wondering what you guys think of this and if I need to tell him to cancel and find someone else. I'd love to give the money directly to a driver rather than working through a broker that takes a cut. Thoughts?

Going directly to a transporter with their own authority would save you the fee for the broker.
If I didn't have personal time and maintenance scheduled in the coming weeks, I might be interested. I like these out of the way places. I enjoy the challenge to put together a load. Hope this helps. Best of luck. Later, PKlongbedGTs Thanks this. -

Its listed for 875 right now. It's kind of an odd route for a car hauler, and Texas can be a real pain for us to get a load out paying well. When they find someone (or should I say when someone e finds them) it will probably be a 3 car hot shot. Should have them call carriers based out the destination area, might have some luck with that.

Ok, that makes sense. Hopefully whoever picks this up will have some DFW bound vehicles also, so the driver can get into a better area for outbound cars(if that's the case). The seller of the truck will be out of town from July 29-Aug 6, so if anyone seeing this thread is thinking about making this pick up, the truck won't be available for pick up any time between those dates. The seller is also willing to trailer the pickup closer to I-90 to make it easier on the carrier. 2 weeks ago, the broker assured me that it'd be no problem to get the truck picked up before July 29, but guess he (and I)didn't expect such a hassle.

Just because it's posted for 875$ now doesn't mean they didn't start it at $450 and sit on it thinking they could jack the rate and move it last minute. Next , they'll tell you they need more money to get it moved.

Does the rate posted on Central Dispatch($875) seem reasonable? If I need to pony up some more dough, I will...but I don't like the idea that some of it will go into the brokers pocket.
