so yesterday I had to picc up a live load.

I was instructed to slide tandems all the way bacc, then discount from the trailer and pull forward.

I did so, but when I reconnected the tandems would not slide AT ALL. I tried so much things to do I eventually just said f it and started driving. I thought maybe aftrr driving a bit they would slide. Nope. Woke up this morning they still won't slide.

Last time this happened, I greased the slide rail, hammered in the pins, and rocked the trailer.

    It worked

What kind of pin system do you have? Air or lever? If air, you do know you have to start the whole unlock process over again after you have moved the trailer? [to bump the dock]

Air systems are nice but you have to understand their process and safety features.

I have a lever system for my trailer. I like those the best. They can be easy to fix even though they are on older trailers. If you have a lever system, go under there and make sure the Carter pins are in place. That's what pulls the pins in. You put the lever back over the little bar, and put a Carter pins in the small hole. One time I didn't have Carter pins so I used two paper clips

I dislike places that require you to go through a whole set of circus just to get docked. That is one of the reasons some of my employers had dock pins inside of the airride system itself so that when it settles onto the pins it's not going anywhere, forklift or not.

I am willing to consider more flat ground, I am thinking there is a bind somewhere along the rails that is putting tension on the whole thing.

Do not whatever you do say to yourself ef this and take off with tandems all the way back on a 53. There are some junctions that will not allow you to fit safely with those wheels that far back.

We have never indulged in a air unlock/lock system. It's always the old fashioned 4 pin lever back there. Believe it or not, those pins are not that difficult to move if you can get the tension by weight off there.

From now on, first try saying that the tandems don't move. If they insist, then slide'em.

If it's a safe option try getting bakked into a spot at a trukk stop with a curb. I had that issue some time ago. Use something sturdy. If you can try carrying a blokk of wood in your cargo box. Chances are if it happened once it will happen again. WD40 on the pins might also help. Good lukk.
