Driver got his air lines under his trailer cut

could have been a hazard on the road kicked up hitting the hoses. hopefully we do not have some doing that just to make it harder on others

 

It happened once to me. 15 year old trailer. Delivered on a farm, must have snagged something.

Put it another way. 100k miles a year every couple of years weird #### happens.

It's been 46 years since I had a problem like that. Looking at it as close as I can get it.
It just doesn't look cut to me. Nor like a break from being pulled.

Which leaves a 3rd possibility. If you notice, there's kind of a pointed tail. If I had to guess, it looks like it dragged on the road for a while. Then pulled apart when it got thin.

The other line isn't clear enough. But it looks like (from that fuzzy image) maybe it did break from being pulled.

Just for arguments sake. Air line is not easy to cut. It would take a some serious effort to just cut with a knife and more than likely, it would be a lot straighter looking cut. At least that's my impression.

 

My first year something came of the drive tire, bounced off the back of the cab and sliced right thru my red line. Cut thru three coils right in a line as neat as a knife.

I'd guess it happened on the road and wasn't vandalism.

 

Co-sign the theory that the line was dragged, got thin, then pulled apart upon sliding the tandems.

 

Yes it was dragged on the road. It either feel out of the clip, or.
More common is for the spring to break that the air lines hang off of.
Then the lines drag on the ground for a few miles until they wear through.
I got lucky once in Northern Ontario. Truck behind me was about to pass when he saw the spring break and lines dropped to the ground. He got me on the CB (yes some of us find them handy) and I was able to stop soon enough to hang them back up.

 

It looks like it rubbed against something not cut

 

Never saw or heard of either happening. Can' really tell by the pictures there to dark. But going by the picture another poster blew up. I' say they were not cut.

 

If the airlines break from extending the tandems they will seperate at the junction block not the middle of the hose. Happened once to me on a new Great Dane. Turned out they had the wrong lines for that slide.

I second(third, or fourth??) They were dragged and then popped when they got pulled on.
