2019 Pete / Paccar mx13, have had to do 11 manual regens (35,193 miles) becoming more frequent. Truck is using def fluid at what appears to be normal rate. (7 gallons per 150 of fuel) when going down the road. I am a heavy idler but do idle engine up to 1,000 rpm at night. Other truck purchased at same time in our fleet has only required 2 manuals in same time period. Any help / advice appreciated. No check eng lights or warnings other than: DO NOT OPERATE, MUST COMPLETE PARKED REGENERATION in window above speed / tach. 3 straight days in a row now. First one was third day I had truck. Then once a week, then more often.

My only suggestion is to get it deleted! Find a company that will do it while keeping it looking legal and legit. Most places will charge you around 5k to delete it from the computer and tear out the filter. Leaving everything else intact....Just a suggestion.... DEF/DPF systems should have been abolished long ago I believe personally...And they produce such horrible smells and exhaust when burning it cant be good for the environment....Good Luck!

Yeah and void all manufacturers warranty. Stupid suggestion honestly. It's only ok to try that on 5 year old trucks not the 2019 equipment. Just take it to the dealership and tell them what's happening.

Yeah you are completely right there....I totally did not read the 2019 part! If it is only a 2019 it should still be covered 100% by the warranty anyhow and then yes def take it straight to the dealer! I still stand by the fact that I think that the DPF systems should be completely done away with though!

Ohh yeah the Def/DPF is a headache at times. Just had mine serviced a few weeks ago. Check engine lights came on.

Please, let’s don’t debate environmental issues. I was just looking for someone who might know why this is happening. I’m well aware I can take it to a dealer. Thanks

Regen is the result of excess soot buildup or the pressure sensors are indicating too much differential pressure across the DPF.

Take it in. The regen history and freeze frame data will tell a story. We are dealing with 2017 newer emissions that hasn't seen a ton of troubles as of yet. Suspect a biased DPF sensor or wiring rub giving the ecm a reading of dpf restriction. This should only regen every 100 operating hrs or even more than that is not abnormal. May be software revisions as well.

Stop idling the truck up to 1000rpm. You are most likely canceling any regen attempts when you set the idle up. If you're going to idle, idle at normal rpm and left the computer idle it up for when it needs to regen. If the truck has the idle shut down enabled get permission from your company to take it to the dealer and have the idle shut down turned off. Then drive the living piss out of the thing to keep the DPF as hot as possible so that it can burn all the soot out of it. The hotter that DPF stays the cleaner it will stay.
