Is it forcing you to do a complete manual regen, or just a 10 min regen? If it's taking ~45 min or more, then something is wrong. If it's just the 10 min. regen, we get that almost every time the our drivers idle all night on the MX13 engines.

my 2012 will do it at reg idle, but if its turned up it will not finish it kicks out, if you idle at higher rpm and it kickes out and you don't catch it in time enough to turn off cruse to regen, problems start for me DD15 you know the one with the CLEAN IDLE sticker on it

My 2016 will do an auto-Regen on fast idle (cruise).
But will not do one on PTO fast idle.

Regen trigger sensors are "failsafe" in that if they fail, the truck will want to regen repeatedly rather than the sensor failure causing the truck to never trigger a regen. The indicator the sensor has failed IS the multiple, repeated regen requests.

    Your close......

It's more often a condition of the fault coming active that inhibits regens. So let's say you have a wiring rub for a dpf temp sensor. When the fault is active it will not allow a regeneration to take place to "failsafe or protect" the system. Once the fault is inactive and the ECM/ACM sees all the sensors as rational again the regen process will begin again. With a wiring rub this can be very intermittent and may try to regen every hour or until the issue is resolved. Just depends on the fault conditions.
