It's great. It will alert you within 2 miles that there is an inspection station ahead and give you the green light if the weigh station wants you to have a green light. It does run on 3g, but dont be alarmed it picks up everywhere. Only system running on 4g is people net tablets, but they cost some $2500 a piece.
Good ELD recommend

I could replace my Garmin every 6 months for what you're paying...in addition to your initial purchase cost. The Garmin GPS will also track IFTA (as will any other "truck specific" GPS), so really, what are you getting for your monthly fee? Prepass costs a fraction of what you're paying to bypass weigh stations, and even then, you won't burn $50/month worth of extra fuel having to roll through them.
They lobbied for the mandate, and you're rewarding them for their effort with no real added benefit to what was already available for lesser cost to you.Timin770 Thanks this. -

...but hey, you know it all, right? Keep willingly sending your money to anyone who lobbies government in order to increase their own profits AT YOUR EXPENSE and there won't be any end to the line of folks trying to get in on the action with more mandated BS for you to buy. In the meantime, the $50/month you're spending on your ELD doesn't get you a single $0.01/mile more than the person running an ELD that they bought for a fraction of the cost and no monthly fees. And you know what? You're no more compliant with the HOS than they are as they gross just as much WITHOUT the expense.20 Mule Team and Timin770 Thank this. -

PD, is there any Dezl that can be used where a cell phone is not needed at all?

I have the Dézl570 and use a tablet. I think the #80 series might be stand-alone with the ELD...but since I don't have one of those, I couldn't tell you for certain.

I’m not a fan of the bring your own device options.
I use Coretex and have been really happy with them.
Rand McNally TND760 Fleet Edition is a good unit. I used it when I was leased to someone.
Omnitracs XRS is a bring your own device option but it worked very well and, being Omnitracs, you have that support behind it. It is also low cost being its bring your own device.
